Morning everyone,
Just on to say HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all.
I've just logged into our online banking as DH gets paid today. Our council tax has also been debited today - £186 - when it normally goes out on the 1st. Very cheeky of the LB of Bromley. Don't remember them doing that in previous years. Luckily our NYE celebrations are cheap and cheerful at a friends house so we won't need any cash.

Please can I join, I did so in 2009 but soon fell by the wayside, however this year I need to be more focused and keep cost down to a minimum as we have planning for an extension to the house which expires this coming December 2010, We need to save up for it so every penny counts.0

OK..I think I've decided to return to monthly goals for here & an annual total for my own records if that makes any sense. If I catch a good bargain one month I shall just have to be more aware for the following few weeks
Well that's the latest theory & l will have a good shot putting it in to practise before passing comment.
I'm working on an assumption of £7 a day to cover food, H&B & cleaning for the humans and the petsso I'd like a target of £217 please Helen.
Have fun tonight & stay safe. Happy New Year everyone.x

Off to Mr A shortly to see what bargains are to be had and will make meal around those, so hopefully won't be too expensive.
I'll update siggy later, K:xmastree:Merry Christmas0 -
hi all I would love to join this, need to get into the habit of doing a food shop online rather than just relying on the local co-op's
I'm going to have a guestimate as this is my 1st month and say £300 for all food, cleaning products and toiletries (inc nappies) for me, DF, DD1&2 and DS. Hopefully I can keep track and get into some good habits!!
Happy new year to u all, here is to a happy and healthy 2010

OK going to set my budget at £200 which should be more than do able. My fridge, freezer and cupboards are fit to bursting. Should only need bread, milk and fruit.
Happy new year to everyone when it comes. So little money - so much time :mad:0 -
Hello once again, I joined in the challenge for the last 3 months of 2008 and about 7 months of 2009, this year I will complete all 12 months.
I think an annual budget will work better for me as we buy alot of our food in bulk.
Our budget is for 2 adults, DS aged 4 and DD 9 months and will cover:- Food
- Toiletries
- Medicine both over the counter & prescription
- Cleaning materials
- Alcohol
- Take aways
- Meals out
We eat mainly organic fruit, veg, milk, oats, flour and some breakfast cereal. Tea, coffee, sugar, cocoa, dried fruit are all fair trade and organic. Our meat has to meet my partners very high welfare standards. I realise this all costs us extra money but we are fortunate enough to be able to afford this. We do buy from supermarket basic ranges mostly tinned goods, as well as own brand cereal and pasta.
I will now try and read all posts on the thread and keep up with all future posts.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

Hi all!
I'm determined to stick to it this time - fresh start and all that! :T
Can you put me down for £175 please, to include all food, cleaning stuffs, dog food and toiletries. But not to include wood shavings (we buy as and when), hay (ditto), speedibeet (ditto) or petrol.
Thanks! xx0 -
Happy New Year to everyone when it arrives and special best wishes & thanks to Pink-Winged for the challenge thread & Helen Jelly for updating the new challenger list.
New Year's dinner in the frugaldom household will be traditional steak pie dinner, despite DS requesting roast chicken dinner! I just decided that it could be bad karma to mess with tradition on the first day of a new year, especially as I got the steak pie half price and stuck it into the freezer! :rotfl:
Last night's dinner was baked potato cooked on the open fire, whilst the electricity was out - nothing beats a flame-baked jacket potato with crispy skin and oodles of grated cheese & butter melted over the top.Tonight, I have potatoes, some swede from the garden (if I can get it out the frozen ground!:rotfl:) and haggis. Next task is to make the clootie dumpling, then we're all set for tomorrow's New-Year-fest, eat-a-thon!
Have fun everyone! Drink sensibly if you're partaking of any alcoholic beveredges and don't get hypothermia by trying to walk home drunk without a jacket, scarf and gloves.I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Nykmedia, please can I come for dinner, I love haggis, neeps and tatties.
Dinner in this house will jackpots (jacket potatos) as my father calls them and cheese, butter (as inspired by Nykmedia) as well as pineapple, baked beans, sweetcorn, HM coleslaw, mayo and ham. We just serve the potatos and people help themselves to a selection of toppings. DS doesn't like potatos, jacket especially so he just eats the toppings.
Plan for today to make a meal plan, still usless at though I know it will be good for us.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent
