Could I just creep in and say thank you to everybody who has mentioned George and I. Your kind thoughts are appreciated, and it's good to be back.

Im going to give this a proper try this year. Can you put me down for £300 for January. This is for 2 adults one 4 year old and baby, this money does not include nappies or baby forumla, we are lucky that MIL buys all the nappies for us and that DD is on prescription milk so every bit saved.

Im going to do my meal plan for the week in a minute and have a look in the freezer to see what I have, its well stocked so hopefully will have some good meals out of it.

  • I'd like to join in at £310. That's £10 per day for the family (me, OH, DS1 -11, DS2 -4). That includes all food, toiletries, cleaning products and take aways (got to live a bit!)

  • Hi I would like to join your grocery challenge. I joined last year I think but soon fell off the wagon. 2010 will be different, just hope I haven't joined too many challenges! Please put me in for £300 for January. I would like to think I will come in under this as have quite full cupboards/freezer and going to butchers tomorrow which won't be included in January!!!!
    Thanks Taffy

I'm loving this time of the year, purely for the reductions on fruit and veg! Since Saturday I have got a lettuce, bag of spinch, punnet of peaches, box of blueberries, bag of carrots, packet of stirfry mix, 6 tomatoes, bag of organic potatoes, bag of apples and a bag of onions all for less than £1.50 :D If it was this price all the time i'd eat much more healthy food (that's my excuse anyway :p)

Also bought some broccoli, bananas and clementines today (not reduced...pfft!) so will have a lot to keep me going next week. I won't count these though as will start from the 1st.

Hi all Can I join in for January as like others we need to start tighting our belts:o

Can you put me down for £300 this is for food, toiletries and cleaning products (this is for myself, OH, DD 14, DS11 and one fussy puppy). This is a reduction of at least a £100 a month on our normal spend, so not sure if its achieveable but I suppose if I dont try I'll never know :D

I have absolutely no idea how much money I spend on shopping. I can remember that I used to spend more than £400 a month which seems excessive for 2 adults and 2 DDs (10 and 5), but now there is only 1 adult and 2 DDs I have no idea how much I should put. Estimated guess for the first month will be £300.00please, starting from the first. Many thanks and good luck everyone.
