  • Hello,

please put me down for £80 for January.

This will be my first month doing this with the group. I live on £40 per week cash after all rent, bills and savings etc are taken out. So the £40 is for everything - entertainment, transport, food, cleaning products and healthcare bits and bobs. Actually, it has been £50 for the best part of 2009, so I'm getting strict with myself again, but like nothing more than rolling some of that weekly allowance to the following week and drawing less out that week

So for me the £80 is for the four weeks of 2-29 January, and for me living alone, but with boyfriend at weekends. It is only for food, drink and wine, and includes bought lunches where I slip up on my planning (this should NOT be happening in 2010!!) but does not include dinners out, as they are few and far between, and are classed for us as "entertainment", and we have a jar we each put £2 per week into which usually covers that. Drinks in pubs (also few and far between) are not included in my £80 either.

Fingers crossed for this. I have a standing veg box delivery which, with milk, is just over £15 per fortnight, so that £30 will come out of my £80 right away .

Good luck everyone, glad to be joining you!

Hi, I'd like to join in please.

£200 for January should be plenty as it's just me & DH and the freezer & cupboards are full.

    Many thanks.

    Hiya

I would like to join in January please - I really need to get my spending on track. In our house are myself, hubby, 3 year old son and my elderly mum (edited to add and 2 cats :) ). Since we have all moved in together our spending seems to have rocketed.

I will start at £300 for the month of January - this sounds a lot but I am hoping it comes in less. We have certainly spent more than this in the past couple of months but then it is christmas...! I intend that me and hubby will take pack up instead of spending during the day so the budget needs to cover that.

    Good luck everyone :)

Can you put me down for £400 please. This is to include 2 adults, 2 teenagers (one vegetarian) and a 5 year old plus 2 cats. Also to include cleaning stuff and toiletries.

My plan of action is to use the butcher and greengrocer more and the supermarkets less - maybe do one online shop a fortnight.
  • Hi guys,
This is my first post, after lurking on this forum for some weeks!
In November we spent £350 on food for me, hubby and 10 month old DD :embarasse this is probably far too much. Dont even want to look at what we spent in December, not brave enough yet...

Therefore, I would like to aim for £300 in January to include all food and toiletries/baby products. I am going to keep all my receipts and do a meal plan per week so fingers crossed I can save a bit of money.

Thanks for the thread and the inspiring recipes, I am going to do my meal plan now and go shopping this afternoon.

    Happy new year everyone!

    Moogle xx
