Welcome to the new 'Challengees' - I like that word Loadsabob :D - its great to see so many new faces joining in. Helen will be along to add you to the list on the front page.

I'm counting today's sainsbugs delivery as the first January spend as its a filling-up-the-storecupboard one. I'd run stocks down before I moved in October and being more selective about what I'm storing now but I'm really pleased to see the shelves full again. I ran out of a couple of basics this month and nearly ran out of tea bags which is a big no-no

Good luck with the challenge everyone!
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

  • Hi all

Dragging my a*se in so Rosie doesn't come and find me and give me a boot up the bum as she threatened!! :rotfl::rotfl:

We have a Tescos order coming tomorrow which will be the last order til the 29th of January when our Feb challenge starts. We are going to be eating as much as we can from the store cupboard which means lots of planning and a lot more input from both of us. I am hopeless at planning and he is hopeless at what he will and won't eat which doesn't help.

Anyway.. today we spent just £1.23 on some yeast. Am banning my OH from using his debit card for this month, we will withdraw a set amount each week and will have to use that for any extras needed. (milk, fresh fruit and veg etc)

To be frugal, you need to spend money wisely, simply spending less is not enough.
If you can't handle me at my worst then you don't deserve me at my best...
Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says I will try again tomorrow.
  • Morning everyone

    Morning All

First spend of January GC last night. £7.79 on 4 pizzas, huge bag of oven chips and 4pts milk. :o Went along at about 7.30pm as had driven 385 miles yesterday to attend a funeral and was too tired to think about cooking a meal even though there was plenty of food in the freezer. None of it was chuck it together quick stuff though.

I will hide the chips at the back of the freezer so that they are available for the 4 late nights I have this month when I get in from work after driving for hours!

There was not a pint of Mr S 1% milk to be had last night so had to get the skimmed (only other one I like) which is 33p more! In fact Mr S looked like it had been hit by a plague of locusts as there was empty shelves everywhere.

We only need fruit and veg on Saturday as DH wants to lose a stone by his 40th in Feb so I will be making lots of soup on Sunday.

Happy New Year to you all!

  • Hello

I'd like to join aswell, I've been out of work now for a month so we're back to living off my OH's wage for a while. I'd like to stick try and stick to £175 for the month if possible.

Just waiting for my first tesco shop to be delivered which was an expensive one (family stayed for christmas and now my cupboards are empty!) so when I know the final amount I'll add it to my signature.

I'm off to make some Gingerbread latte syrup (I think I could actually live of that stuff!)

  • Hello People :)
I'd like to join, I think we spend about £80 a week all in for me, hubby and 2 voracious teenagers.
sooo can you put me down £300 for the month.
I always make lunches for hubby and kids but never myself. Must remember to. I tend to cook once a week and freeze as I work long hours, but have a small fridge.

Be good to get help to stay organised.
