I decided not to venture to Canterbury as I had a lie in. I went to the local shopping centre instead. I had a look round in HobbyCraft but no fabric in the sale. Then I went to Laura Ashley - I was tempted to buy some clothes but resisted. My Granddaughter is having her bedroom redecorated and I took her into LA last time I visited - she loved all the girly stuff. They had some ballerina fabric reduced from £20 metre to £5 metre - there was a 53cm pattern repeat and I don't know how big her bedroom windows are. I tried ringing her Mum but no answer - bought 8 metres - must be enough! I also got some interlining half price and some reduced price spotted fabric and butterfly design fabric.

I made six bags for my friend and I when we went to the Olympia show in March. I bought the faux suede in The Range a few years ago. The flowery bags were made from a remnant bought in a charity shop. The last bags were made with fabric in my stash.

Its got a lot of the technical bits in, looks very good to me.
I think that if you are a novice there is a lot of information for you, and if your a dressmaker turning bag maker like me its doing well so far. I havent obviously made anything from it yet, but reading the technical bits I am really interested in it.
I have the Cath Kidston Books, Sew, and Make, I also have several Tilda books, along with probably half a dozen other books on making clothes, recycling, and gifts etc.

I think it would take me about 5 years sewing every day, to make all of the projects in the books, PDF's and links that i have now!!!:rotfl::rotfl:
I am making a bag that Rufusdog helped me with, nearly finished it, after mamy interuptions. Hoping to finish tomorrow as I want it as a gift for a friend.
When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.

I am just listing over twenty craft books on Ebay as part of my declutter. I counted what was left on the five shelves of that bookcase....110 books! I have SO many doll/toy making books.

Got a link for the ebay stuff Florence?

I love the bag making bible because it shows you different features and explains them really well so I can adapt other patterns to fit what I want :) I also used it when I made my 'super organised sewing bag' I started knowing nothing about bag making and managed to design and make my own bag with all the little things I wanted within a few days :)

Yes a link to things people are selling on ebay may be a good thing. Or maybe we should be setting up a "sewing Circle" that puts things up for sale on our Blogs to see if anyone else wants to buy them direct first? Could be a bit more MSE and save us the fees for Ebay, Amazon etc?
    Just a thought of course.

Nearly finished the bag I am making. Just need to sew the linings into the outer shell, but ran out of time and energy yesterday. Off out today to see my newest Granddaughter, and my daughter of course so no sewing today. Maybe tonight who knows. If I have the energy for a starter.
