Pennib, I am so envious of your quilt and the cushion is just the icing on the cake. I bet you can't wait to go to bed now :).
Well my afternoon didn't pan out entirely as planned and I've been left with no time for sewing :(. I had to remover the old hinges from my sewing box as they were damaged. I did this earlier and when I tried to put the new ones on, I couldn't do it. I was worried I was going to wreck it so I asked DH to do it when he got home for lunch (to do after tea IYSWIM). ALl my jobs were clear and together but I started cutting the paper for inside the drawers and got DH to start screwing it together. Unfortunately he tried to open it with only 2 pieces of the cantilever in place and it's scraped a lot of paint off and snapped one of the screws off in the box :(. I've managed to put the rest together with no further mishap and none of it rubs when it's opened with all the cantilevers in place. Unfortunately, they need to be there to balance each other out. It looks fab (in the dark, with the scuffed bit turned around facing the other way ;) ) but I am going to have to repaint it. I so didn't want to have to da that and I'm gutted it's happened but it could have happened to me not DH if I was doing it because I may have done the same thing. Well, tbh, I probably wouldn't have snapped the screw because I'm not strong enough :)- more like to thread it and leave a big gash in the wood, my hand/leg/eye and whatever else happened to be nearby :o.
I'm not overly sure how I'll rectify the screw being stuck in the wood. Probably have to drill it out and fill the wood before I repaint, then drill another hole to screw into. I just am a bit gutted that this has set this project back by a week or more. Oh well, such is life. At least noone's hurt and it is repairable. I will carefully label the bottom of the trays this time and the sticks that connect each level. I might borrow MiL's electric sander to cut the time of stripping the blasted thing. It's got to come right back to bare wood.
As I have to do this, I'm going to get DH's brute strength onto the top handles to remove them so I can get some pretty little glass knobs or similar.
I will try to get the blinds started tomorrow. The weather's bad so it looks as though DD's sports day will be postponed. I have plenty of cake to keep me going through the process too :D.
    Happy sewing everyone xx

Hi :) I mentioned before that I was looking for a sewing machine. Well it turns out my FIL has a Toyota Jeans machine he's never used, with everything included. Has anyone/does anyone use this kind of machine? Are they good/easy to use?

Can't advise on the machine, sorry. I got mine for £35 in Tesco a few years back. My sister told me it's made by the same people who make Toyota machines. It's easy enough to use (after I got over the initial terror!) and it suits me for now (until I can persuade DH that I *need* a bigger/better/shinier one with more whistles and bells that is!).
Gut reaction, go for it! What's the worst that can happen?

I have a Toyota, although mine is a Quiltmaster, and I am more than happy with it.
I'm sure the Jeans will be fine for you. Aren't you the lucky one? ;)

Good luck, and look forward to seeing what you make. :D

I have been sewing again today, not photographed yet as I was doing some "production line". I cut out a selection of purses and bags yesterday, approx 20 of them, then today I started to sew them. So they have all had some work done on them, but only 3 are finished so far. Nearly the 4th but my neck has complained its had enough! So no more sewing for me tonight. Been looking at the links though, and the lovely pictures of the makes. Not managed to visit all the blogs yet. Havent visited my own for a few days, or even looked at my website! Eeek,, It has to be updated as there is nothing on it at the moment.
On the plus side, the beachbag was liked, and sold. Then another Mum wants 4 of my small bags and 4 wallets, in any combination. So I will do them next.
The shop has my things, that will be on a 2 weeks trial. Not so sure she will sell them though. She is humming and harring about the terms and conditions/pricing now. So I am not going to count my chickens before my eggs.
Hi, can you tell me how to find the blogs please. Thanks.

I would be even luckier if he was giving it to me - it's costing £70, although it is brand new (mind you, I don't know how long he's had it stored in the back bedroom!). I was actually asking DH about the argos value machine as it's currently got 25% off at £44.99. He said 'will you use it though'. Well I won't know until I try it, anyway it was his idea to ask his dad (who had previously told he wanted £100 for it!). I said there's no way I'm paying £100, I can get a brand new one with guarantee and everything for that.

pinkpig, if your FIL wants £70 for it, do some research and find out exactly what it does, what stitches it has etc. If it's not what you would go out and buy for yourself, don't buy it from your FiL even if you feel guilted into it. There's a big difference in being given a machine that is surplus to his requirements and having to buy (at quite a high cost) a machine which may not suit your needs.
Have a look on ebay and see what sort of prices they command etc. Remember you'll have no guarantee with this machine and you have no idea how it's been treated previously.
