Thank you Rikki, will give it a go

You can alter the stitch length to suit the fabric but the zigzag width will stay at 1.

Well this morning I cut out my maxi dress, while the electric board had the power off. Then once they had been I made a beach bag for one of the Mums at the Nursery. Well its for a gift for her sister. She didnt ask for any particular fabrics, so I am hoping she likes it. Although if she doesnt I am sure I will sell it somewhere. (I hope!).
I put some pictures up on my blog.
Then I have used my "cow" buttons that have finally arrived. Want them to start to be a symbol of "Mooloo's" of course!!!:D

Hi, I have an industrial machine that is playing up at the moment. Can anyone tell me how to fix it please? I am unable to stitch at speed without the stitches being really small. I have tried fiddling with the stitch dial and changing the needle. Any ideas please?

Hi! I don't post on this thread but read it pretty often.
Just to let you know, yes! they do industrial zig-zag machines.

I used to work in a factory that made Shoes and these machines are called "Post" machines. They are taller than a flat bed machine and just have a small 2 inch plate under the needle that you sew on rather than the full bed of flat machines. They also had "Binders" that cut off the excess too.

I know this doesn't really help but, in the factory (when sewing leather) the pieces were put through a "sciver" first which cut the backing off the leather olong the stitchline so it was much thinner there. Also quite thick needles.

When the place closed, all the machines were sold off and a few workers bought one but if you were to find any, you would need a bit of space as they are quite bulky.

Sorry, if I have missed the point - only read last few posts! :)

    Hi everyone,

I really wanted to buy a sewing machine but DH thinks it will be a hobby that i will get bored of and didn't want to waste money so we comprimised and i bought my friends Proletrix 8 Stitch Sewing Machine from her.

The needle i had for it is now bent and im unsure of what ones to buy to replace it, i emailed the company and they said that the product is discontinued. Not really much of a help.

Can anyone help with what needles i can use? I've seen some universal ones but im not sure if they will fit in mine..

    :)
