Well I am giddy with excitement! I have vouchers to spend on material and only have a few weeks left until I am on holiday!

My plan over the summer is to make a whole heap of things so if anyone has any lovely items you feel I can't go through life without making then please let me know :D

So far I am thinking of making lots of bags for various things, maybe some toys and hopefully a skirt/dress. I have had my sewing machine for ages and all I seem to have made are things in a square or rectangle shape and none of those have been very inspiring :o

It will be so nice being crafty for a while!

I am looking for some patterns or things to make that a 13 yr old girl could make. I bought her a sewing machine and some fabrice and embellishments and things but thought it would be nice to put together a book of things she could make. Any ideas welcome.
I have looked on the web but thought I would get a better response here.
    Thank you.

Could your 13 year old make some maxi dresses from a dress you already own? Or how about a shirred top? I got my shirring elastic from fabricland for 40p per roll and also got some from ebay for £2ish for 2 rolls. The ebay one is ever so thin and I haven't used it yet but having looked at the inside of DD's dresses from Asda, it may well be the same. Once I have done my quilt top, I will have a little play with the thin shirring and see how it turns out.

Rummer, yay for fabric vouchers. What do you REALLY want to make? You can betcha boots there will be a tutorial on t'internet for it somewhere! I'm fancying making the dress from the free pattern on the V&A page linked on the sewing thread no chat bit. Can't remember what it's called, https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3074510 there's the link. I think really, you can make whatever you fancy. You may look at it in years to come and think "Hmmmmmmm, really?" ;) but go for it!
The man in my local fabric shop laughed at me when I was chatting to him one day. I was picking up the interfacing for DD's skirt and mentioned it was for attaching chiffon to satin. He queried this and I explained what I was making. He laughed when I said I'd not sewed anything other than cusion covers before and had only just started learning. He said "So you decided to start with the most difficult thing you could possibly make then?!"

I have cut out all of the squares for the setting blocks now so I will start to sew them together tomorrow. I just, just had enough of the beige flower print fabric to make the background squares and only just eked out enough pink for the print squares. I have more of the beige fabric coming so am able to use it for setting blocks but need to pick out some fabric which will yield me 36 2.5" squares. I think that I'll leave the selection of that until I have got it all laid out and can see it in real life.
Really hope that I can get all 12 blocks done tomorrow because it's my anniversary Thursday and I'm working tomorrow night shift. At least DH will be able to see it if not use it at that stage. The sashing has to wait until the fabric has arrived. The star blocks are on a book case at the moment and the cat looks decidedly unimpressed that she has to curl up tiny to sleep on them. She clearly thinks I have made them for her! Wally cat!

Morning all, I brought down the two cushion fronts yesterday I am doing and sat and sewed some sequins and beads to the fronts. They are both finished now so I can make them up when I get a chance to go up and use the machine. My OH is off today so I dont know if I will have time to get any done but if I can squeeze in an odd hour I will.

Rufusdog, I have posted the camoflage fabric to you today. Have fun sewing!
    Mooloo

I am going to be making Elf costumes for the nursery school, 30 of them needed! Ages 2 - 4 ish. So I am going to be busy.
Taking the sewing machine and the overlocker, and my pinkingshears to the nursery on Tuesday and getting the others involved I hope.
Set the machine up in the staff room, give the mums the patterns to cut out and then sit and overlock as much as I can!

That sounds like fun Mooloo :P

I found out about a fabric shop in Earls Barton so a 30 minute walk from where I am now and I am so tempted to drag my OH there I would go alone but seen as I don't know down here at all I would probably end up lost in the middle of nowhere lol.
