Pennib, I love your quilt, it's so homely looking. Did you machine it or did you do it by hand? You've done a very good job :)
I managed to cut out 2 more blocks yesterday evening but none done tonight. I will try to get some more done tomorrow when I get up but don't know if I'll have time to do it. I have decided to get all the last squares cut before I try to stitch them together. I finish my nights on Wednesday morning so I will start cutting some more on Wednesday evening. Hope to get the machine out on Thursday.
Off to work again now. I hope that tonight is quieter than last night, I didn't stop for the whole 12.5 hour shift. My poor feet were throbbing!

I love the ballerina sock monkey!

Maybe I am mad but I have an urge to make my bridesmaids quilts as presents even though I already know what I am getting them and would only have 12 weeks to do two on top of everything else that needs doing.. What is wrong with me?

Kaz I machined the top and then hand quilted it all, took quite awhile but was enjoyable. Look forward to seeing yours, what colours are you using?

MissPixie you have got a bad case of quilt-ities, whilst not fatal, will fill all your waking moments!!

LVSue, my mum and grandmothers all worked in tailoring and had many tales too about fingers been sewn through, so its v true and def a good warning eek!

Prudent, Ooh let loose in Hobbycraft with a £100 voucher - happy days!

Pennib, wow your quilt is so gorgeous!
hmo - aw the cushion is lovely and so glad your DD is interested in sewing.

Did lots boring alterations yesterday - had a pile of clothes that all needed attention, but I'm glad I did them all, inc the horrendous job of shortening the sleeves on a lined jacket (charity shop, brand new from M&S in cream wool, billy bargain :j). Not sure if its just me but why are all the coats and jackets I buy too long in the sleeves? I must have short arms :rotfl:

Anyhoo I have made a new sock monkey, my DD aged 21 has claimed her :D

Silly me was nieve though  chucked out the box and bumf. Even though it is still in warrenty. Weve had it for around 6 months if that :( really quite annoyed with it. *boohooo* x

it shouldnt matter, did you pay by card if so you will be able to get a copy of the statement showing the purchase.

if you paid by credit card you can claim from the credit card company i think providing it was over £100.

where did you buy it? again if it was online i think the distance selling rule may apply.

if none of these apply i would still take it back to the shop you should be allowed a replacment, free repair or your money back

Thanks Hma it was Homebargains and it was debit card. I think i might give them a phone first and explain what happened. My hubby bought it for me and he knows someone in their actually so might go in our favour. Id rather phone than humph a sewing machine into our town centre. I'm sure we'd get some strange looks :rotfl::rotfl:

Hi there :) I'm using a selection of colours. I bought 4 packs of fat quarters from fabricland which are greens, blues, browns reds and one is black and white. I have some yardage from ebay which is yellowish, some pink, some green and a bluey purple. I also have a piece which is dark purple but I don't think I'll use that in this quilt. The colours would be too strong I think . I also ordered a piece of fabric which is a beige with white flower print that I can use if I need to. I haven't decided on setting blocks yet or on sashing, or in fact the backing piece. It has to go in our bedroom which DH painted (soft) Lime green  but will be repainted in a more muted green or a blue at a much later date. Or maybe even cream.
I got all my blocks out today to show a friend and she was really impressed :D, DD also showed her the dress and skirt I made for her.

Miss pixie, good luck with your quilting challenge, it's addictive :o. It is quite expensive though when you work out the total cost of the fabric and the batting. Unless you are able to source loads of old clothes from someone who's having a clear out and then you would only need to worry about the wadding. Espescially if you are able to do a pieced back. Do you know anyone who's getting rid of a load of old work shirts for example? The bigger the better, so you want a great big fat man with a nice selection of shirts (or dresses) :rotfl:.
