we should get the Janome for my dd today hope its ok.
so once we have it up and running she is going to have a practice just sewing the stitches to see how they work and look.
she has her first project ready i enlarged the monster pattern that was in last months sew hip mag.
she has cut the pattern out and i cut the fabric for her as we needed double layers and some of the pattern pieces are small.
all she has to do now is sew it together:)
she is going to make felt bunting for her friend Jade as her 2nd project.
i will post photos when done
You could use the fabric with the practice stitches on to make a pin cushion.
Just turn it inside out, sew up three sides, stuff and overstitch the last side.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

Thank you both
We did make a paper pattern in the end and grease proof paper seemed to do fine. Are fabric pens a similar idea to taylor's chalk, as I have some of that. The bag is now roughly pinned together to give us an idea of what it will look like.
hi, the pens are like a felt pen i prefer them to chalk which i also have but dont use it often.
there are two types of pen one you spray with water and it dissappears the other just fades away after a while thats the type i use, you can get them in all sorts of colours, purple, blue, white etc0 -
I always draw up patterns on printer paper taped together and then pin it to the fabric if I am cutting with scissors or put it on top below the ruler if I am using the rotary cutter it makes is much easier than just trying to guess that you have the lines right. I just use the lines on the mat as a rough guide to see how straight things are.
Finished decorating the two rooms just waiting for the last one to dry so I can move everything back and then I can get on with some sewing before I have to go away and leave my machine for a whole week
I have decided it was too ambitious to do 2 quilts for my bridesmaids on top of my 4 page to do list but I am going to start one that will no doubt end up as a gift for someone. Although I am tempted to make it red themed so I can keep it and have it in our bedroom

Hi everyone
I love the work that has been going on here :T
I have been to Norfolk at my mum's for the weekendI had a wonderful time, we went to loads of CB's and CS's so I have come back with loads of fabric
I got a beautiful cream duvet with cream and gold embroidery on it and some Laura Ashley curtains
I got a lovely cross stitch book from a CS with loads of patterns to do in it, I love the alphabet section
This week I am going to be playing catch up with Kaz :rotfl: with the patchwork squares as my hand is so much better and I still have 3 weeks off work yetGetting myself sorted 1 day/1thing at a timeand Love sewing

well here he is the first project my dd (8) has done on her janome sew mini, we got it tonight threaded it up and off she went.
this is a monster kit that was free with sew hip, we had a few tears and in the chaos we forgot to sew on his ears, but i think she did great.
Next project to practice her applique skills is bunting for her friend jade with an initial on each flag:)0 -

I have just spent 2 hours looking at fabric bundles and charm pack pondering which way to do it and there so much choice but I can't afford to have them all!Getting married Wednesday 24th August 2011!
