Wow some lovely makes on here ladies. Well I had a play with my new sewing machine yesterday. DH laughs at me as I can never follow instruction manuals, but I managed to thread my new machine yesterday without help from DH or my Mum !!! Amazing what you can do when you try !! I've done a bit of hand stitching too, I'll post some pics later.

Thanks so much Rosalie lavender for the excellent explanations of the sewing terms on my pattern it makes so much more sense when someone who knows what they are talking about explains it:D.
The pattern i am trying to do is M5919 and i am doing the dress (D) in a size 5.
i haven't had chance to get any further with it yet but i'm hoping to crack on tomorrow night.V 12500 B 8300 N 1900 Oct £51/£1550 -
This is my first attempt at a sock monkey for my friends 40th - everyone was really impressed and said it looked like it was made in a shop so i was pretty pleased.

I think you are so brave, I cant even contemplate starting such a big project as I get lost halfway through and I get bored very easily.
I know what you mean kandip, I collected all the fabric I thought I would need to do a quilt then changed my mind as it was too big a project for little ol beginner me :rotfl:so I did the 2 cushion covers instead, I am so pleased I did, its taken forever to do them :rotfl: mind you time (lack of ) was my prob.Getting myself sorted 1 day/1thing at a timeand Love sewing
