tamster, hope you had a good birthday despite all the illness with your children.

my dd was about 3/4 when she got CP she also had a water infection too at the same time which kind of disguised it, she only had about half a dozen spots, but she was poorly.

hope he manages to get some sleep tonight and you of course.

mooloo, dont try and do to much, i have a bad back too and i think i am ok until after ive tried moving or lifting something heavy and then i am reminded by my poor old body with aches and stiffness!

its nice to have a room for sewing/crafting you will have fun no doubt when sorted.

ikea is great for storage i kitted our craft/sewing room out with all sorts of stuff from there, detail on my blog with a list of all i bouhgt, it was about dec/jan if you want to look.

do you have a freecycle group near you look on the net you may be able to pick up a chair or stool for your sewing table for free.

i got my overlocker off freecycle last year i was dead pleased, ive given loads back its a good way of recycling rather than running off to the tip all the time which is what i always did in the past.

Thats brilliant getting an overlocker off freecycle! Ours never has anything like that although I do check. I did get two big bags of knitting wool once with some needles though.

I have updated my blog with some pics of the latest quilt I am doing. Havent got very far with it yet. I have put some detail on about how I planned it which might help if someone wants to do a plan of how the quilt will look when its finished so they know how to make up each block as they go instead of doing it randomly. I prefer just to do it randomly but on this quilt I needed the blocks to be a certain way so made the plan.

Off to enjoy the sun, Rufus xx

I've seen some fabric I'd love to get but can only find it on e-bay - do any of you lovely lot know where else I may be able to get it? Had a look online but don't know where to look really!

Wonderweb! Brilliant - I want to make some quick bunting for a garden party and much prefer the thought of ironing than sewing! How have you strung it together - did you make loops on each flag or use the wonderweb to attach the flags to binding/ribbon? :)

wonderweb is about as technical as I get!! I bought some 1inch tape, ironed it in half lengthways then foled it over the top of the fabric with the wonderweb inbetween, ironed again and hey presto - I have to say I'm quite pleased with it:).....only another 15metres to go:(

Now you see I would rather sew then Iron! I hate ironing. Infact the only time I do iron is for sewing projects usually! Then for some reason I dont mind, as its only a seam here and there! :D

So, with Wonderweb, does the fabric not fray after you've cut it?

I would think that it would depend on your fabrics, and if your washing them. If you cut them out with Pinking shears, then they are not likely to fray, certainly for quite some time.

It is the pinking shears that help prevent the fabric from fraying, because they cut with a zig-zag edge.

Wonderweb is used in this 'recipe' to stick the fabric flags to the long header tape. It is a strip of thin papery substance that becomes glue-like when ironed between two fabrics. It is simply used to stick fabrics together. It is not intended as a permanent solution and can disolve after a few washes, but would be fine for bunting that is only used occasionally.
