There's a Buttercup bag thread on Flickr, where some people link through to their shops, might give you some idea of pricing. You can find it through where it says, 'You might also like' on Rae's page http://www.made-by-rae.com/2009/02/free-buttercup-bag-sewing-pattern.html

I'm off to Ikea at the weekend to look at fabrics this weekend :D

I love Ikea fabrics :D I still have some yellow spotty fabric to do something with (I brought it in the Ikea sale a while back :o)

I love made by Rae's blog and I have already brought 2 bag patterns from her (buttercup and Lickety split bag :D) I wanted to be able to sell them and not cause a problem, I know some people do sell them without permission but Im too honest to do that :o.
The buttercup bag pattern cost about 3.60 so not bad realy as you get the larger one with zip fastening instructions :D
Getting myself sorted 1 day/1thing at a time :) and Love sewing :)

Hmm, ok, that may work better. I had just attached all of the layers to the waistband so the longest layer is the full length of the skirt.
Ok, so how would I do the gathers? Should I do a running stitch all the way round, pull it in and then sew on to the underskirt?

Just caught up with your query bexterwho, and it looks to me like too much bulky material at the waistband, which would tie in with you having each layer reaching the wastband.
The suggestion to add layers to an underskirt sounds like a good one, (bit like a ra-ra skirt for those who remember the80's :)) Yes I would gather the fabric first using the gather stitch you have described, then sew onto the underskirt - over lapping each layer. Hope thats better.

Pennib & Nykied your necklace and bag are devine!

Esmy - I have altered a lined woollen coat in the past which was too long, it didn't cost me much so I wasn't too bothered if it went wrong. It looked OK, but your coat sounds lovely so might be a bit more wary of sewing that!
Anyhoo, I unpicked the lining, and also the backvent seam as high as it could go with the facings otherwise I would have been left with a silly one inch vent :o. Luckily there was enough facing material to be able to unpick and make the vent about 3 inches long. Pinned to correct length, then ironed under damp tea towel removing pins from under irron so they didn't leave marks. I ended up handsewing the lining back into place. Mine did have front facing but no piping so that might be more problematic?

I have them in a pictures folder on my home computer and on here have one in an email as an attachment. I have tried to "right hand click, copy and click postcard" - it then asks for URL reference and I don't know what it means. Don't worry just wanted to show my little project, but I will jsut keep looking at all your wonderful projects instead. Billie x (just read that last sentence which sounds really woe is me, but it isn't meant too) x

You need to upload your pictures to an online file somewhere. You can't copy from your home pc. Most of my pictures are on my blog, so I can copy from there.

I set up a photobucket account last week so I could share pics on here, thoght it was going to be very hard but after one failed attempt it worked fine.
  • Thank you all for your advice on the tutu. I have re-done it and it's not perfect but I am happier with it and I think my daughter will be happy wearing it to her ballet class now! I've not got any pics yet but will try to take some at some point and show you.

In the meantime, here is my last project, a little dress. Excuse my daughter's face, she's at that age where if you ask her to smile for a photo she either looks like an axe murderer or like she's in pain!
