I'm loving the quilts and the cushions. I've only recently got into sewing. I bought a Singer fom Ebay ages ago but it scared me so much it lived on top of a cupboard for months before i plucked up the courage to use it.:o

I've made a few sock monkeys and some covers for snap bands to turn into bracelets and have started making a cushion but i'm very much a novice. I will be watching this thread with interest.

Tamster - beautiful quilts, the fabrics look so lovely together. I like the way you did the strips to make the squares in the bottom one. I have lots of small bits of fabric left over from other projects so might try something like this one day xx

Boys stuff is prettty thin on the ground - but the sewmamasew blog is really good although you need some time to just sit and go through all the archives. The handmade holidays sections have tutorials for almost anything, I am sure that I saw a boys bowtie on there and some cute hats.

Thanks for all your lovely comments - the cushions are actually the quilts folded up - they are called "quillows".

Keiss you asked about the quilting - all done on my ancient Bernina circa 1960's (we think -as it came into the family 2nd hand in the 80's) More info here.

And lovely cushions (sorry I forget who)

The quilts were all made from the lintott Jelly roll quilts book.

For the bottom one, you had to sew 4 strips together, fold in half then cut with a triangle ruler. However all the blocks came out wonky. I wasnt sure if this was my cutting, or sewing.

I mentioned this when I took the quilt with me to my local quilt shop to buy the quilting thread and she reckoned there was an error with that pattern as she had had the same problem and so too did lots of other customers. So in the end I just cut a square out of cardboard and used that to square off my blocks.

I have since seen tutorials for similar quilts - try googling string quilts

Tamster, I was reading through your blog earlier and in your post on December 2nd, your link for ASDing doesn't seem to work.

I've got that from the library - had to reserve it but I've just gone to renew it and somebody else has reserved it after me :(

I've got the 'Two From One Jelly Roll Quilts' book too, also by Pam Lintott and I've renewed that one. Handy as I no longer have a full jelly roll ;)
