  • Hi all!

Sometimes blogging works a bit weird in that you hit the follow button and although it looks like you are following you dont get blog updates. Best thing to do is set up your own blog first off. Visit whatever blog you want to follow and copy the URL from the top line in your browser (the bit that starts www. or http. etc) then go back into your blogs dashboard and hit "add" then paste the link there. It will automatically show you the last posts on the blog you want to follow. Hope that helps!!!

That's really nice! Did you do it from a pattern? I'd have no idea where to start.

  • popped to netto for some pepsi earlier and they had some fleece baby blankets for a pound not very appealing as blankets but thought they'd cut up to make toys or something.

I´ve bought a v neck dress with sleeves from ebay, but I don´t think the neckline sits properly (it looks like the trainee did it and it´s a bit off centre and one side of the V has stretched a bit) I thought I might change the neck line and turn it into a strappy summer dress, ie straight across neckline (front and back) with string straps. The dress is a viscose crepe with a silky lining, but the main problem (for me anyway) is that it´s all bias cut. It has no zips so it´s just pull on. Has anyone any thought on how I can go about this?

When going thro my clothes yesterday I came across a pair of black velvet evening trousers. They have very wide legs (all the way up or down) they should look like a long skirt, but they don´t on me. I want to make them more into more narrower straight leg trousers, that I could wear more requently. The velvet is the knitted jersey type so is it bit stretchy. How do I start, should I take in more from 1 seam allowance more than the other, do I take in just from the side seams, should I unpick ther lots and starts again with a pattern (if this option , is there a link to a free pattern please) . They have an elasticated waist band and no posckets or zips......help please

Not sure how to go about changing your dress especially without seeing it but Adventures in Dressmaking has some great tips on refashioning clothes, I'm amazed by what she does sometimes.
For the trousers I would suggest wearing them inside out and pinning them as you would like. Depending on how much fabric you will be taking in you might have to play around with taking it in on the outside seam or inside leg seam. Should be easy enough as you don't need to consider pockets or more importantly waistband.

Good luck, would love to see pics!

    Hi Ladies,

I popped into Aldi's yesterday and picked up a leaflet. They are selling a Singer Sewing Machine from next Thursday 20th Jan for £79.99. If anyone wants to check it out, its a Singer Symphonie link here

I've no Idea how good this is! But being a Singer must be a good start!

    Cheers

Singers aren't as good as they used to be. Their old reputation has gone on for far longer than it deserves!
