Thank you all for the rice answer. Tracey I love the quilt. How did you make it?I love this thread everyone is so friendly and helpful. x

Thank you for the nice comments!

Frenchgirl - it was VERY simple! Just cut fabric - I wanted the quilt 36" square and I gave myself a seam allowance of around 3/4". Sewed it right sides together, left a little bit to turn right way in. Turned right way in, put stuffing in (cut to size) then I just pinned the lines (to make it easy I just did 3 lines 9" apart) and sewed! I don't have a quilting foot for my machine and it was fine but it's not that thick so think I got away with it. Then I sewed up the gap and voila!

It was really easy - I may try making horizontal AND vertical lines next time - am getting more adventurous lol!

  • I have a Toyota 2260 electric sewing machine that I need to dispose of. It is in good working order (serviced in April last year), and comes with various feet and bobbins etc. There is nothing wrong with it, it's just that my mum gave me hers last year, and I also got a new one for my birthday, and I really don't need 3!

So if anyone living near me (near Gravesend in Kent) would like it, and can come and collect it, it's yours for the taking!

If you'd like a picture please PM me with your email address so I can send you a picture.

If no-one on here has it I'm going to put it on Freecycle over the weekend.

I've been busy making new items for my Etsy shop. Here is a penguin I made from a recycled jumper of mine, his name is "Arthur". He sold straight away though and is on his way to California as we speak. It made me laugh the thought of a penguin in sunny California:D

    Hi everyone

I enjoy sewing and am very impressed with all your work! I am going to be in Liverpool city centre on Monday and will be visiting Abakhan! (Can't wait) Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should look out for and are there any other shops I should visit while I'm in Liverpool? (City Centre only)

    Thanks in advance.:D

P.S. I'll be in Bristol city centre (Cheap flights from Belfast) on February 1st so welcome suggestions for there too.

    Stardrops - he is lovely!

He is definately a Geordie penguin in those colours! Bet he will be happier in California than Newcastle though :)

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
stardrops42 he's very cute. I especially love his eyes. I can see why he sold so quickly.
traceylou9 Your quilt is very pretty, I agree with shirlgirl2004 - much better than clothes they will grow out of.
Gangstabird thanks for the tutorial i've saved your page for when I move house.
dizzytina Love the file cover. That's much nicer than a boring old plastic folder. Better watch she doesn't have you making a stack of them for all her paperwork :D
  • Love the penguin!
I have a little sewing machine that is spare. I bought it from Tesco's last year for about £40 and the pedal broke. Shouldn't be a problem replacing it but hubby bought me a grown up one shortly after.

So if any one lives near Hartlepool (or any where in the North East- I like a good trip out :) ) and wants it let me know and i'll drop it off for you. Can send photo's if required.

(thanks for the idea of posting on here loopychris- i didn't know what to do with it)

I've been eyeing up this forum lately for some ideas! I love, love, love all the blogs. Such inspiration!

I've made some quilts on my mums sewing machine- one for my son, one for my newborn nephew, another for a friends newborn, and one for my brother and sister in law. I should figure out how to upload pics on here!

No problem... didn't know if we were allowed to do that, but I'd rather it went to someone who is going to use it than put it on Freecycle and risk someone who'd just sell it...

I've got someone coming tomorrow for mine, so it's helping her and me, as I've decluttered it from my house!
