hi Craftygranny - yep, i'm still knitting badly! dont really have much to show for it though :o. i made a big bow that i think will look good, if quirky, on my 'new' (cs) winter coat. if its not too silly i'll take a pic. i think one friend has now caught the cross stitch bug from me, so i'm not sure of her knitting progress!

I fancy making a bag and don't want it to be floppy. I haven't got any interfacing but wondered if I could cut up an old blanket to sandwich between the outside and lining or would it be too bulky to sew?

I have just bought a few crafting Xmas presents on the John Lewis web-site, clearance bit. Cath Kidston mouse pin cushion reduced to £3, Knitting kit for a cardigan, hat and bootees (including needles, pattern, cotton yarn, all buttons etc for £5 (reduced from £20) and a "make a hippo" soft toy kit for over 8 years (£5 reduced from £15). I nipped and collected them from Oxford Street this afternoon and they are real bargains, which will make great presents. I only have two more presents to buy - go me!

However I do have a pile of things still to make including an entire wardrobe for a Barbie which I need to get on with. After that it is scarves and some embroidered cushions.

My grandaughter got 6 barbies for her birthday last week lol. Can you get patterns to make clothes for them or is it a case of make it up as you go along.

That should be ok. It would be better with interfacing as well but if you dont have any it should be fine. Make sure you use a strong needle so you dont have any problem going through all the layers. It might be easier to sew your blanket to the wrong side of your main fabric first so that you make sure you dont get any lumps and bumps. :)
