Danemi i have a Brother machine this one http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/4600547/Trail/searchtext%3EBROTHER+SEWING+MACHINE.htm. i haven't used the extending arm yet. it is expensive but is well worth the money. I didn't even have to read the instructions when starting it is all really obvious (and it needs to be for me!!) and does some gorgeous stitching. I suspect you will probably be able to get it cheaper if you google around though.

I love your bag by the way the yo yo's look really effective.

Tamster that cap is far too cute!

And i love the purple cushions - my fave colour too!!

  • Phew! Busy few days on here ladies! Alec - can't believe you read the whole thread - your head must be spinning!

Some lovely makes, in particular the hat (although I already said so on your blog - I love it!) and the purple cushions :)

I was off work on Monday and confined to the house waiting for the broadband man to come, so I got on with making a draught excluder from an old pair of trousers:

He looks a bit strange but I'm pleased with him overall! More details on my blog.

Got so much stuff I need to make this month - got some bits I need to do for a swap, then a crayon roll for my godson's birthday on 21st, and I want to try and adapt the crayon roll to make a make-up brush roll for my friend's birthday on 6th Nov... One of best friends is coming to stay this weekend too - couldn't she have timed it better?! Sometimes I just wish everyone would leave me alone to get on haha! (I'm only half-joking!!)

Thanks for all the lovely comments about my quilt & cap guys - it means a lot to me! Especially the quilt as although I wanted a "scappy" look I was thinking it was TOO scrappy. But everyone has been really positive about it so I think I am starting to like it now!

Now there was someone a few weeks ago, asking about where they could get the school/colleges shears & scissors sharpened? Well I just read a tip in the new Sew Hip that said, you should wipe the blades of your scissors to clear off any fibres before storing & that if they are blunt, to cut through some aluminiam foil that has been folded over twice, a few times. You could get the students to do this themselves every half term or so???

i've now run out of patchwork squares so need to buy some more. No more purple cushion making for me this weekend.

Did you say you had some ribbon? You could sew it on in a heart shape or flower or just swirls like this.
    Lovely cushion btw.

Thanks for the Amy Butler link Tamster. I think it's probably beyond my abilities at the moment but have downloaded it anyway.

I have a question for all of you who follow blogs. How do you do it? What programme do you use? I currently have about 50 blogs in my bookmarks but obviously I can't keep up with them and can't ever remember which ones I like and which ones are active. I'd also like to be able to 'follow' people's blogs and be able to enter comps etc but I don't know how to do that! Any tips?
