I like using duvet covers I have bought a few from our thrift shop. I am using this one at the mo

    http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/9236923/Trail/searchtext%3EPATCHWORK.htm it has a nice
blue polka dot on the reverse side. so far have made doorstops, bunting and swim bag for DD3. Cheap way for me to buy
material and not so scared of making a mistake with it.

fab idea can we see some of your makes from the duvet cover? I might have to buy this one myself, I have a bean bag that needs recovering so it would be ideal thanks for sharing xx

Just remembered there is a post on the grabbit board about Tesco online grocery and instore having the Kingsize Amelia duvet cover for £2 it's quite similar to the Argos patchwork one. My local store doesn't have any though.

    Hiya everyone,

just to let you know ive just been to poundland in Lincoln and managed to get a rotary cutter, i've tested it on some lightweight cotton and some scraps of denim and it cuts through them like a dream. It might be useful for anyone on a budget like I am.

Danemi, are you the same as the one of UKS from years back, if so i was your secret santa a few years ago, nice to see you! :)

I bought a Rotary Cutter from Poundland.
They cut fine, but the slider to move / cover the blade is very stiff. May just be mine though.

  • Hi All,

I've decided to try my hand at sewing our curtains - we need 10 pairs, all identical sizes and the quotes I've received so far are all £120 plus materials for each pair, which is sadly out of my price range! So, my first stop is to buy a sewing machine. I was hoping that someone could have a look at it and suggest whether it would do the job, as I'm pretty clueless! It's here http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.204-3277.aspx

Any advice would be most appreciated
    Laura
