    Ooh, have you got photos?

Unfortunately I haven't as OH is away and has taken the camera. Have dug out the old camera, but can't find the USB lead.
Thought about phone, but don't have Bluetooth on my lappy, which is the only way to get pics from my phone.

Mooloo; have you tried giving her, her own piece of material (or kids aida) with a blunt plastic
needle and a piece of wool, so she can sew along with granny......mine used to like that sort of thing....and you never know she might turn into a talented seamstress like granny!

Sadly no, I hadnt thought about that one! I shall have to look for a plastic needle now!.:D

If she does follow in the footsteps then she would be the 4th generation at least. Infact I am sure that before my granny, there was a tailor in the family? not sure must ask my mum when they get back from thier jaunts.

Mooloo; Thats a lovely dress you would never guess it was a pillowcase, well done. What a great way to recycle. And what a cutie she looks as well. Butter wouldn't melt in her mouth!! Wouldn't it be great if she was a 4th generation seamstress......get the plastic needle and get her started!!!
  • Great dress mooloo!

Hi All! I'm new to this thread! And pretty new to the sewing thing... I'm hoping to join you all (if you'll have a late joiner?) I'm still working my way through the thread and am looking for ideas for a quilt and bean bag for my son - for starters :)

Well I have made an adult apron out of the matching Pillowcase, but I havent taken a photo of it, as I just wrapped it up for a friend as a little extra gift.
there is still half of a pillowcase left. So I may make a shopping bag out of it, or even an ovenglove with the cotton batting I have? I am not sure. We will see what creative mood I am in later on.

DGD has been playing with the buttons this morning. I dont have very many, but they kept her amused while I was sewing. Along with playing with tigger!.

chasingsunshine: welcome, I am also going to do a quilt (well a smallish one) for my bed. Have been collecting material, but I might start with an applique pillow in reds/white/greens. I am positive that you will be inspired by this thread.....I was!! Love your name by the way...we could do with some sun up here!

Mooloo; You have a creative streak in you. I will look at pillowcases with different eyes now when I go into cs as I just brushed them aside before now. My children also liked playing with my buttons, putting them in different containers, cooking with them etc, you will have to start collecting them for her!

I like using duvet covers I have bought a few from our thrift shop. I am using this one at the mo

    http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/9236923/Trail/searchtext%3EPATCHWORK.htm it has a nice
blue polka dot on the reverse side. so far have made doorstops, bunting and swim bag for DD3. Cheap way for me to buy
material and not so scared of making a mistake with it.

  • Thats lovely genieuk! :)

Funny, I was just looking at duvet covers to make bean bags out of (the big ones you can sit on) but wasn't sure it'd work. Gonna get on with it now :D
