Here is my blind. I used blind tape instead of the rings simply because I couldn't get the rings anywhere locally but I'm glad I did as I could play around with the spacing until I was happy, I think I'm going to thread it again as I think the bottom hangs down too much but I'm considering putting a trim along the gap so I'll leave it as it is for a while until I decide. Will probably put a rod in the bottom to help weight it down too.

    Hi all,
I have been lurking for ages, keping track of all your lovely makes and saving piles of things to make when I get time.
I had a little go today, was so excited. Thought I'd start with something that I thought would be really simple. It wasn't lol. Don't know if it's me being stupid or the instructions. Tried this http://www.allaboutyou.com/craft/Make-a-pretty-knitting-bag/v1 thought it was as simple as you can get but I couldn't get my fabric right. Had rough edges under the bit where the handles go. Really didn't want to use wadding or anything as I haven't got any. Does anyone have an suggestions on a simple pattern I could use to make my first item?
Really am in awe of all your makes and would love to get going in the sewing world.
    Thanks in advance. xx
Would love to earn an extra £40 a Week. Trying to find ways to :-)

I have made one similar to this, but hand stitched the top around the handle. You have to keep moving the material around the handle as you go. Also I drew a line on the inside as a guide as to where the hem should sit (where you have folded over to 3cm)

Hope that helps, don't get put off I have good days and bad. There are some tote bag tutorials you could try.

Dont know if this is the right thread to post this but it is sewn! ;)
(painted/machine sewn/hand embroidered) it was copied from a book and was quite easy to do. Old frame, buried in the garage and cleaned up, and gold mount to finish off.

    Hello everybody!

My grandmother was a seamstress and she's always made clothes for me. Now that I've turned 18 she's decided it's time that I learn how to do it myself. Was having a nose around the site and noticed this thread which seems to have almost become a sort of club and thought I'd hang around.

So what do you say? Room for one more? ;)

I've just ordered myself a ruffler foot! I'm so excited, I made a skort for Miss M the other day and I get really fed up trying to do gathers by sewing a line and pulling the thread, I can never get the gathers even so I compared gathering feet and ruffler feet and plumped for the ruffler.
