Wow Vicki, the doorstop is great.
You are so talented - it would have taken me days just to work out how to do it, never mind actually make it!

Gorgeous chicken Vicki, I might have to have a go at one of those (along with the 3001 other things on my list)

    Hi all,

im having a memory blank moment. I bought a wooden yard stick ages ago (now wishing I hadnt) and been using this with my rotary cutter but I hate it because its too thick and makes the cutter go wobbly at times (as well as hacking into the wood which is ruining the blade). Im looking for one of those wide flat plastic things that you use as a guide when cutting. Anyone know what they are called or can recommend what size to get? I have an A1 cutting mat. I thought they were called cutting rulers but cant find them online......Thanks muchly! x

Where did you get your yard stick from? I've been looking for one for ages.
So much easier for measuring and making curtains than a tape measure.

I got it from a sewing shop in Edinburgh. Its good from a measuring point of view but awful for using with a rotary cutter. Mine was about £15 but I only bought it because I had gift vouchers for the shop otherwise I would have shopped around. One here from ebay with free postage for about £6 (not sure how good it is though. The one I have I think is much heavier/sturdy looking.)

this website is meant to be the cheapest for sets, but might not be cheapest if you have a mat & cutter. I got mine in John Lewis for about 8 pounds, it's by fiskars, but it is in CM not inches (I am a metric girl) but it is a real pain when it comes to quiltmaking as all the patterns are in Imperial measures. Also it has a 1cm seam allowance thing which means that it is very easy to make mistakes when measuring. The other brands dont have that bit on them.
