Hi all,
Does anyone have an suggestions on a simple pattern I could use to make my first item?
First try a morsbag as already suggested then have a look at this

I made these to deliver my Christmas pressies in. I made mine slighly smaller and the handles shorter. Have fun.0 -
Hi
Long time lurker here. Can anyone help me with a query I have about curtains please? I bought some curtains a long time ago and they are the standard curtain type, didn't realsie at the time and I actually wanted either tab top or curtains with rings in (if that makes sense). Anyway, I have come up with the idea to buy some eyelets myself and turn them into curtains with ring top, but my query is, I have seen that you can get special tape with the holes already in and wondered whether or not I needed to take the tape off that is already there and replace with the special 'eyelet' tape or can I just use the tape that is on and make my own holes?
Any advice accepted as I don't know what to do.
Thanks
eyelet tape saves you having to measure spacings, and usually only comes with one side of the ring, so you have to buy the other side too
also eyelet tape, helps if the fabric is a bit thin, as it strengthens the header. think id be inclined to just put rings through the current header tape/curtain

Thank you everyone for the nice comments, the quilt took me about a month to do but that was mostly because time is never on my side :rotfl:
I have decided Im no good at making clothesbut I love patchwork so I have been busy cutting more squares today so I can reduce my ever increasing fabric stash and put other quilt and cushion covers together faster
To think I only started sewing again after finding this thread just before xmas and my 1st bag was the size of a sack :rotfl:Getting myself sorted 1 day/1thing at a timeand Love sewing

Vicki, your blind looks lovely. You certainly don't hang about do you? I think I spend too much time planning things rather than getting on with them.
Pennib, your picture is beautiful.
Hart, loving your quilt.
Pixie, welcome. My daughter's just made herself a chiffon dress - I'll get a photo tomorrow. I think she had trouble keeping it pinned together because the fabric's so floppy. It probably would have been better tacked together rather than just pinning.
Wam73, Good luck with your bags.0 -
Hart - Your quilt is gorgeous!
I finally got round to making my first bag last night, I really am thrilled to bits with it, it's perfect for work :j I haven't put it on my blod yet, will do later.
Just wondering if anyone has seen tutorials for making the lavender hearts? I picked a batch from my garden over the weekend so I've left it to dry and hopefully I can make some hearts for christmas gifts x0 -
Hart I love your quilt! It has given me the push I need to start sewing my little man's together!
Here is the cheats way for making a quilt like Harts - this is what I was shown on my course at Tikki London, only we used bigger squares. I am quite a lazy crafter so always like to find the easiest method lol. I managed to get mine done in only a couple of evenings.
