Thanks very much - good idea! Ive heard ppl put bras and things in pillow cases, i just never thouht about my top! Ill try that. :T

I googled clothing glue! Duh, fabric glue sounds better, ill try that too :j

Hi again! Ive looked into this fabric glue thingy, came across http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300444804868 but says its not suitable for very fine fabrics, my top is thinish cotton, and i want to re attach my metal pieces back to it, they are like brass square metal pieces. Anyone used this? Or got any other suggestions?

    Thanking you :)

I'm guessing the reason why it says not thin fabrics is that it can make the fabric stiff in look and feel which on thin fabric would be more noticeable. The glue can also seep through the fabric. I wouldn't have thought it will make much odds for you as you're putting the metal bits on top anyway. Just make sure you don't glue the front and back together if it seeps through or you won't be able to get it on!

    Hi

I don't know if this is the right place to ask this question but wasn't sure where to put it.

My dd has an almost new pair of jeans and the metal button has come off. The hole it made is too big just to push it back so does anyone have any ideas on how I can rescue her jeans as it would be a waste to throw them away.

    Thanks Kit

Take a small patch of jeans fabric and use wondaweb, fabric glue, or stitch it, under the hole.
You can purchase new buttons if the other is unredeamable. And useing a hammer, insert the new button in.

alternatively, you will have to sew very tiny stitches, all around the button to secure it into place. But thats very fiddly and not that brilliant.
You will have to reinforce the hole what ever you do, to stop it from happening again.

I made my first ever thing on a sewing machine! Woop!

I bought pirate material for my son to test my "skill" before making baby quilts, it's not what you'd call straight, the wadding is a little narrower than the fabric and it's too thick (14oz) but it's a start! It took me about an hour to learn how to thread the bobbin, still, onwards and upwards! Just going to buy some big pirate ship buttons to anchor the wadding in place for when it needs to be washed and will buy some thinner wadding tomorrow.

I know it seems really easy but the last time I used a sewing machine was more than 15 years ago and I got a telling off from my mom for revving it, hehe.

Thanks hun, it's a real buss, even though it's only a piece of folded over fabric with dodgy seams. I'll try and tidy it up tomorrow and take a pic. Cross stitching is totally beyond me so I can only admire you x

like most things mate - might look hard but its not - not at all really - it was something portable to do when I was on nights - I think I have built sewing up in my mind over the years to be insurmountable - and although I will never be a seamstress or anything like that I feel a bit better about it than I did 3 weeks ago - quite liberating - thats until I fluff up this patchwork cushion I am doing at the mo - lol!!! - Will keep an eye our for your piccie
