    JCR your quilt is beautiful!

*Waves hello to all the sewing ladies* I've been busy shabby chic-ing lately and haven't made much on the machine apart from a strawberry shotcake fancy dress costume which I am wearing Friday and still need to finish! Will post some pictures next week.

    Hi Vicki! :j
Looking forward to seeing your fancy dress costume. Love you blog BTW. I hate shopping and make up (cause Im no good at doing either) so like reading your blog as it makes it seems less daunting for me!! x

Can anyone tell me how difficult patchwork is. I would love to try it but actually wouldnt know where to start. Do you have to sew every single square together in a line with a sewing machine and then sew other lines of squares to it and so on....I honestly havent got a clue but wondering if I would quite like it once I got started.....

I'm the opposite. The dress is lovely, but I'm so glad my son's school doesn't do year 6 proms! He's leaving primary this year too. My DD1 on the other hand will be having a prom near the end of year 11, which is less than two years away!:eek: I'm going to have to start looking out for patterns with her soon I think! Why oh why do we have to adopt American habits?

Its the quilting bit that always confuses me. Once you've got you pieces together to make the top and you've layered it with the padding and the backing I can't quite get my head round the sewing them together and how you get it through the machine. I've seen quilts with random stitching, parallel stitching all sorts of stitching but I can't understand how you get all that bulk under the sewing machine as the arm of my machine is quite small so do you end up with it all bunched up when you get to the middle area of the quilt?

my mum has a quilting foot for her machine. HTH
