and when sewn it looks a bit like this /\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/

You can alter the width of the stitch and also change how close the stitches are sewn together. It is handy for decorative things and also for neatening raw edges.

You aren't the only one to have an "illness" where fabric is concerned, I think there are a few other people on here, myself included who have quite a fabric stash.

thanks so much - that makes more sense now - although my machine appears to have lost it lol still at least i know what the replacement looks like

I think I shall see if I can get a replacement possibly to experiment

  • Hi all - me again - have been at the sewing machine over the weekend but have hubby currently searching for the camera lead to see what you all think of my attempts :o

But as he has wandered off muttering about his train set it may be a while so would you mind if I asked another silly question?

the taggy blankets - what are they for? - a friend is expecting in november and wondered if it would be appropriate to make her one?

    thanks in advance

Hi! Someone else was asking the same question about taggie blankets the other day (I wondered the same thing TBH.) Here is the bit in the thread that will help. From Page 182 onwards.

I don't know the thickness of mine but it can only be 2mm thick if that what are the options? I went into my local shop and just asked for shirring elastic. They didn't offer a range of sizes.

ETA: Found it easily enough on Ebay . This is just the first I came to so you have an idea.

Hello everyone :) I lurk on this thread daily ( sometimes three or four times a day ;) just to keep up you understand :) ) But i had to come out of lurkdom to ask Cuddles123 where did you get the pattern for the ear flap hat please? I have a new grandson coming in september and I love tha pattern.
Pootleflump the pjs sound lovely :)
Nuttywoman I love the fabric and totally agree with others that it would make amazing cushion covers. Even dining chair seat covers maybe?
    TIA
