    Quick question re sewing machines.

If I sew anything other than cotton, the material snarls up in the feed dogs.
I have setting for stitch length and width, and foot pressure.
Which should I alter, and which way?

After the bathroom revamp I thought I'd crack on with this . It's been a labour of love for the past year and there's only so much I can do before I pack it all away again for a few weeks.

I really must invest in a decent thimble, more poor finger is red raw today from so much stitching.

Great news Shirlgirl :D I am going to have to get a walking foot as I want to make more quilts but I will have to find out if I can get one for my machine :o
The one I'm getting is a generic foot which cost £25 inc postage. Obviously it won't fit every machine but SMD were very helpful.

As mentioned earlier I have been making cushions this weekend from re-cycled jeans, it seems everything I have planned for this week is Cath Kidsonish in some way, these I made from the CK Sew book with CK Cotton Duck and old jeans:

More pics you know where (I get wrong for mentioning where) :)

When you say foot pressure do you mean tension? It is normally my tension being wrong that causes my problems. On my machine the thicker the material the higher the number. I think this is standard for most machines.

    that cushion is excellent.

my sewing machine doesn't do zig zags but as it a heir loom i don't want to replace it, so might have to borrow my mil so i can make something gorgeous like that.
