    Hello everyone

The sewing machine guy phoned to say my machine was ready - it is going to cost over £100!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is £45 for service, £35 for new foot & parts which include something to do with the bobbin winder & thread tension - neither of which I noticed any problem with but then again I am a beginner & wouldnt know either way. It a an ancient Bernina which is apparently the "Rolls Royce" version of a sewing machine!

Still feel like I have been done over though! Like getting the car done in a garage!

He will be dropping back tomorrow eve - so I can get started on some patchwork cushions for my front room. I Might even start cutting the fabric tonight!

For those of you with little girls i got a great book from The Book People - its called making childrens clothes, loads of really lovely & easy patterns. I have 2 boys so there were only a couple of trouser patterns & pj's that I could do sadly! (I cant link as I am a newbie to the forums)

Also lots of you have mentioned binding/corners, there is a great turorial on a blog called "crazy mom quilts" again I cant yet do links.

If you look here, you can see how much Bernina Machines cost!

I think you may have made a wise investment! Happy sewing!

I made another Buttercup Bag yesterday. I made a couple of changes, put a zip in instead of a magnetic clasp and I enlarged the pattern. The overall finish is much better.

    Details on my blog!

    Cheers

23rd Spiral ~ I have just received a new cup for work and was thinking of where to get a nice coaster to match it, but I am going to 'borrow' your idea and make one if that's ok? That is about the right size of quilt for me to manage!
Can I tentatively ask how your quilt is coming along ;) ?

i made mine for work too - i made it big enough for a mug and a biscuit :D. how'd it go kandi? can we see pictures yet? :)
~ i kinda changed my plans a litle with the first quilt. piccys soon i promise! :o

Currently working on a hexagonal patchwork throw, all hand sewn, it's a labour of love and I go through stages of wanting to do it and then it gets packed away for ages.....I shall take some piccies of that tomorrow.

Hi Pooky - :D another making a hexagonal quilt? fantastic! what size hexies? is it a charm quilt? what basting method are you using?? Sorry! i'm a bit obsessed with hexies at the moment - like most of craft-blogland!! They are so relaxing to make but gathering the fabric and doing online swaps in a few of the many hexie groups is really quite exciting!
    made another bag today :)

I went to Abakhan yesterday in Preston with my daughter. First time I have been there it was excellent. We bought taffeta, organza, pattern, zips and thread for 3 flowergirls total cost £36. I could have spent hours there it was amazing

What is the buttercup bag everyone is making?
I bought some red gingham with strawberry motifs oilcloth yesterday in "Tiger" for £4 and it's 200cm x 140cm I thought that was quite cheap especially as it's so lovely. Now what to do with it? I might make some bags, I need a tiny bit for Dylan's little picnic table in the garden but what else is it good for?
Love the guinea pig bag btw!

Ah Dizzytina, she is so sweet, how old is she?
The skirt is really lovely, I've said it before but as much as I love having a boy I do wish that boy clothing was a bit more interesting. I haven't been inspired to make anything for him to wear yet.

Thanks Sethsgran and Vicki:D. She is 4 although she is very tall for her age. My niece is 7 and they are near enough the same height!. She is made up with the skirt and keeps telling everyone i made it!

I agree boys clothes just aren't as cute although you can get really sweet little shirts for them i suppose. I haven't really seen many free patterns for boys clothes though i don't suppose i have really looked. The little pinny and oven glove you made your little boy was really sweet though Vicki. My friend has a little boy and she is always complaining about girls clothes being cuter.
