When using a bought pattern, what do most of you do? I was wandering whether to just cut out my size or to copy it onto something else then cut out.

    Thanks

Hi, Measure yourself and compare your measurements to the back of the pattern envelope and then cut out your corresponding size.

The only reason to copy the pattern would be to make it in 2 or more different sizes. If your careful you can reuse the pattern over again.

I've always cut in the past but recently I've started copying the pattern out. Its a bit tedious but the paper is more resiliant than the tissue so it can be used a bit longer. I first did it on a childs pattern as I will want the bigger size next year but I've just traced out a pattern for myself as I don't want to commit to a particular size yet (need to test the pattern first) and also as I said its stronger. It is fiddly and you have to be careful about it but it preserves the pattern (which could always be sold on ebay if you didn't like it!!!!).

I just cut out my size. I have learnt the hard way to check the measurements of the actual pattern first, though to decide what size to cut. Some patterns are cut with more ease than others so sometimes I cut a 10 and sometimes I cut a 12.

It usually gives some indication in the description of what the fit is like e.g loose fiitng, fitted etc. The back of the envelope also usually gives measurements for the main areas.

    Hi all,
Re patterns, I always cut round them to maybe 3 sizes bigger then fold the remainder under until I have my size so that the pattern can be reused for a bigger size if you need to.

Witchwoopiggy, Im following your blog now. Its really good. Good news re interest in your stuff! I think etsy or folksy better than ebay for this kind of thing but sure someone else will know more about it than me.

I havent really been posting recently so if there are any other new blogs Ive missed can you let me know and Ill add them on. Love seeing what everyone is up to. Im still quite unmotivated at the mo. :(

As you all know, Im clueless about computers and things. I was on my blog today as I had a new comment and noticed my follower count had gone up. I thought "oooo, thats good, someone else is following me". When I looked at my followers list it turns out Im now following myself!:rotfl: **Doh!** Does anyone know how to get rid of this? I went into my "manage" folder where it comes up with who you are following and my name isnt in there but Im definately following myself (talk about bigheaded eh!!.) :o:o

:T that's really nice. :T i made one a while back, but got the length of the pockets a bit big so they dangle a bit much:o. luckily i'd only attached that bit with safety pins so could remove it. it's now pinned elsewhere and i can carry the pincushion to whatever chair im using thus stopping me using the arm of the chair itself. :) here's mine, made from ikea samples, a bit of old sheet from nan, and some felt, rice and wadding:
