Well Managed to make a few things first time with my machine so am quite pleased getting the hang of things, can anyone recommend any good material shops? Ive googled for days and far to many some I'd thought were good deals but then worked out wrong sizes so working out over £15 a meter. Seems really hard to find shops for basic cotton materil0

I have bought 100% cotton fabric from fabricland.co.uk and the prices are very good. They sell a range of fabrics.
I have also bought fabric from Abakhan shops and I know that there is an on-line service.0 -
Dizzy those skirts are fab, do you think they would work on a full size person?! I'll have to check out your tutorial when I'm not at work!
I'll second Fabricland GB, haven't bought from there but had a good browse. I think when people list the prices for fat quarters it can be misleading as £2.25 sounds OK but you have to remember to times it by four for the price per metre = £10pm! I've been buying old bits of sheets etc on ebay to turn into things - sounds weirder than it's (hopefully) going to look!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -

I was wondering that myself. i think so as the waist is a full width of fabric from selvedge to selvedge so there should be enough width in a 45" or 60" width piece of fabric. If you look at the tutorial on my blog it will probably make more sense lol:D xV 12500 B 8300 N 1900 Oct £51/£1550 -

Next on my list is a simple A-line skirt made from a 70s curtain - I was inspired by this lady who made this with an old tablecloth:
Mine will be a bit more garish though I think
My mum had a tablecloth like that !! reminds me of the sort of think Alys Fowler (edible gardener/gardeners world) would wear, i love it
any idea what the pattern was tete is it a wrap around style i am looking for a wrap around skirt pattern if anyone knows of one*****

Hello again - I'm a serial lurker but only VERY occasional poster!
Just wanted to ask kandi where she got that webbing for the handle for her CK bag? I have made the bag before but like you, don't like the strap and so have made another which is just waiting for handles - I went to Dunelm today but they didn't have any :-(
Thanks in advance.0 -

Fifimo Thankyou so much for the website for the cutting mat, I cant believe how much cheaper it is and will definitely be getting mine from here when I have the money its £4 cheaper then palenna patchworks, I just need to find out what size blade their olfa rotary cutter is as it dosnt say in the catalogue but £7.63 seems very cheap.
23rdspiral thanks for the tip about flickr I will definitely have a look into that and yes Im up for a fabric swop on here – I think it was you who mentioned it?! I will have a sort through my fabric, take some pics and see if anyone on here is interested in a swop.
Kandipandi I MUCH prefer the handles you have made, they make the bag look far professional and robust.
Dizzttina Glad you found the Oliver+s pattern quick and easy. Iv experimented with it a bit and mixed it up with another pattern I have and have added a tie at the waist,- will post it on soon. I love the beige one with the ribbon and yoyo, so simple and elegent. I wish making these skirts would allow me to save money but I really do fall for the expensive fabric and often find buying from the shops would be cheaper but I enjoy the making part to much!!
Tete en l'Air I love your idea off making an adult version of the lazy days skirt. I used loads of material for the purple one I posted on page 126. I cut off twice the amount I needed for a full poofy look, the second one I did I copied the pattern exactly. I read somewhere that the general rule is If you measure your waist and times that by 2 you should get a similar result for an adult version.0 -

Yes it is easy thanks so much for the link can't wait to see your one with a tie at the waist. I know what you mean about fabric i tend to like all the expensive ones too:rotfl:
Do you have a tutorial for the swing top you also showed on the pics with the lazy skirts as it looks really sweet and i'd love to have a go at one?V 12500 B 8300 N 1900 Oct £51/£1550
