This is my first post on here. I've been a long time lurker and have to say that I have taken advantage of lots of your wonderful patterns and suggestions over the past few months, so I thought it was about time I posted something.

I noticed that someone was talking about cutting mats and how expensive they are - this firm here are the cheapest that I've found (£15 cheaper than my local hobby shop for example!!!) and they supply a lot more sewing items which all seem rather reasonably priced. Unfortunately it won't let me post a link (don't know why - says cos i'm a new user grrrrrrrrrrr) - but you can go to jmm-marketing dot co dot uk and check out page 22 of their catalogue for the cutting mats if you wish.

I sew mostly for Loving Hands charity which I love because i get to pick and choose what projects I can do next.

    Kind regards

    Fiona

    Heres the link.

I will second jmm marketing. I use them a lot, they are good because they don't charge delivery for orders over £10.

Copper and Fifi welcome to the thread!!
Bunny, I love that little skirt you made for your daughter (the love hearts one!) Such a shame about the little tear in your dress. I hate it when that happens!

(p.s Kandi, love your new blog heading and hope your mum ok.) x

Has anyone any experience in making quilts? I'm trying to find the wadding or whatever you want to call it for making one padded rather than just two sheets of cotton. I've never made a quilt before, but I'm a bit bored of making dressesm and the veil material STILL hasn't arrived.

Dunelm Mill sell wadding and its very reasonalble and fine for quilts. Their thinnest one is what I buy and its only 99p a metre and its 54 inches wide. I have made lots of big bed sized quilts with it and quilted them by hand and found it easy to stitch through.

They do it online as well as in the shop xx

Oh, I was just reading youe blog - is't such a shame that you got that far and it frayed - the fabric you used was fab! At least you can put it down to experience and I bet you find another use for that lovely fabric. The skirt/shorts you made were beautiful - a great idea and they look so professional.

Thanks for the kind words about Mum, she was really rough yesterday but sounded much better this morning when I called the hopsital. Off to see her again tonight - can't wait :)

I don't know if I mentioned it on here, but I made the Cath Kidston bag from the book Sew. I made this a couple of weeks ago but was not too pleased with the handle so I altered it. More info on blog but this is what is was:
