Hi everyone, I've been away (in Florence!:smileyhea) so I've missed a few pages, but just wanted to pop on and show you the dress I finished on my day off yesterday (wish I didn't have to work!) - the pic is a bit odd, camera wouldn't co-operate and after tussling with the sewing machine all evening I just couldn't be bothered! Had to adjust it as it came out way too big, and it still is a little bit baggy around the underarms, but nothing I can't live with! I love the cut and will definitely use the pattern again (Butterick 4443)

This is the Liberty fabric, as you can't see it very well in the above.

Dizzy, love the name and layout of your blog. I'm thinking of setting one up as I'd like to follow everyone, but I wouldn't be able to update very often!! (I've added you on Flickr though 23rd Spiral!)

Kandi (was it you?) - love the Russian Doll - looks very intricate!

23rd Spiral - how small are those hexagons?! You must have the patience of a saint! My cushion had nine 5" squares and that was frustrating enough!

OK, now dress is finished, what next? :D

Tete - your dress is beautiful - the liberty fabric is fantastic! Now you have the pattern you will have to make more of these in different fabrics - I'm so impressed!

Thanks Kandi, yeah I love the pattern, definitely going to make more - there's variations in the pack to the bodice as well, with a V-neck and little sleeves. Next on my list is a simple A-line skirt made from a 70s curtain - I was inspired by this lady who made this with an old tablecloth:

Mine will be a bit more garish though I think :D

Have you got the curtain already Tete? What is it like? Your dress looks lovely btw.

Hart, those fabric samples on your blog are gorgeous, where are they from?

Thank you Georgiabay, Im not sure where those samples came from as I just googled free fabric samples and it came up with a list, I just went mad and ordered samples off everyone I could :rotfl:
These were a nice size but some I have had are just little squares but then they could always be used as decoration on the corner of a bag :rotfl:

    Love your dress Tate :T

Hi Tete en I'Air, that dress is georeous, as is the fabric for your skirt! and the photo of the dress is awesome! it looks like you're in a Goldfrapp video! if you wanted to re-create that effect you'd need some super camera skills!!

Did you like Florence? I love that city so much! Me and the OH backpacked Italy 8 years ago when we first started dating, and last May he took me back to ask me to marry him! :D

My hexies are 1" on each side, which means they come from a fabric square of 2.5". yep, it sure is gonna take a while... but i might cave and just make a few cushion fronts...:) but i'm happy for now, so we'll see!

i've also been thinking of a blog, but do enjoy using flickr and i'm part of a hexi charm quilt piece along on there and fabric swaps ect... so i'd still use it if i had one and also would worry too about not updating it often enough. ho hum.

Wow, what a compliment, I love Alison Goldfrapp!! :D I know you would wouldn't you, isn't it always the way?!

LOVED Florence, we weren't there long enough at all, but at least it means we'll have to go back! My boyfriend is a massive fan of Italy but I have to say I'm more of a Spain girl having done a degree in Spanish and worked over there. We're thinking of maybe trying to rent a villa in Tuscany for our summer hols now, and hiring a car and dotting about the smaller towns, we'll see :)

I was having a good look through your flickr yesterday, you have an amazing kitchen and seem to find all the best stuff in charity shops and cat boots, I'm so jealous!
