I love the purse Kandipandi. That is on my list of things to make to put my door keys in when I go doggy walking and save the linings of my pockets.0

I love your purses and bags Kandi, please keep making them as every time I see one I get that little bit closer to going zip shopping!
I want to make something like that with a loop on the back so I can thread it onto a belt for bootsaling. A bit like, but most definitely not a bumbag:o0 -
I recently made a shirt from a pattern. It was the first ever thing I had made using a pattern and it turned out pretty good. The patterns give you loads of help and I could easily see my mistakes so my next one should be much better. I hate jersey. It doesn't move like anything else. It hated the first 3 spools of thread I tried to use, just garbled them and sent them back all oily and beardy. I eventually found a thread fine enough to use, but it still just decides sewing in straight lines isn't on, its near impossible to unpick the damned stuff, even cutting it is a nightmare. I miss cotton.
Sorry, rant over.
If it is any consolation I have been sewing for 30 odd years and still sometimes have trouble with jersey. My industrial machine flatly refuses to sew anything other than the thicker jersey. I usually use my overlocker to sew as much together as I can and then I have to use my little Husqvarna machine to finish anything off.0 -
I haven't tried to sew jersey yet but reading your comments I was wondering if using a walking foot would help?0

I second the suggestion of using a ball point needle when sewing jersey.

It was me! I think you can do it to quite a few bags but you have to think about the consruction. This is the simplest way. Make the bag in the outer fabric and turn in the facing plus seam allowance at the top Press.
Hope that helps
When you say facing, is this an extra bit you've added to the length to do this method?0 -
I've made a start on my corset, but there is nothing really to show for it yet, I also made a top today from a skirt I was given a while ago. I just need to finish off the neckline, which I am doing by hand. I've put a pic on my blog.

Lovely colours in the top Hester. Did you use a pattern or made it up?0

Hi
Thanks Georgiabay, the original skirt was tiered, I used a Prima pattern for a plain scoop necked top to get the neckline & sleeves looking right.
