Hi folks, well I have never ever stepped into this thread before lol…sewing virgin here! I am moving to the beach  and as such means I now have a lovely big kitchen – we have bought a big vintage ercol dining table/chairs…inspired by the shabby chic thread and others I would love to make covers for the existing cushion seat pads I have – im thinking cath kidston style. Anyway I tried to search on this thread and there is so many pages…was just wondering if any of you had done such a project and had any tips/photos? Tia

Are they loose cushions if so you should be able to turn them inside out and measure them and either make a pattern or use the measurements to put onto your new fabric.
Or are they the type of seat pad that just drops into place if so they are really easy just lift the seat out, you can remove the existing cover or go straight over with new fabric all you need is a staple gun, spread fabric over seat evenly put one staple in the centre of one side pull fabric taught and staple its direct opposite then do the same with other two sides hope that makes sense, i did this chair when i painted the table it was green valour and its a lovely bright blue now

Does anyone know any good/cheap places to get fabric in Sheffield?

    Shiprob, that jacket is fab!

There's a shop in Hillsborough called Fine Fabrics that has a good range of affordable supplies. There was also a shop in Hunters Bar on Sharrow Vale Rd, but I can't remember the name. Another one I've used is Direct Knit and Sew on Attercliffe Rd.

There is a No Chat sewing thread as well, you can look on their, or you can google images and that will give you some ideas.
If you are recovering a seat, then you can do it with a staple gun around the pad, and possibly replace any foam etc when you do it. Or if you want to make separate seat pads, you could make easy envelope style covers to go over seat pads, cheaply bought?
Cath Kidston fabrics are not very cheap, but you can get fabrics in the style by Clarke and Clarke amongst others that are similar in vein and about half the cost of Cath Kidston stuff.

Yesterday was my first day at the Recycling centre. I had fun, well the 6 hours went by quite fast. But boy it was cold in there.
I was on upcycling shorts mostly yesterday.
Then I played with some sari fabrics and a Tshirt and made them into a dress. Not the best in the world, but it was the last half hour and the woman in the office was busy, so I just thought I would try a few things out. Last night I got onto Pinterest. Addictive or what that site. Linking off all over the place to some recycling projects.
Have some Tshirt weaving to inspire me now. Was doing it at midnight just to see if I could do it!. yeah what great fun.

Blimey Mooloo, midnight?? Haha. See you have the pininterest bug too now, I have so many things on mine to inspire me, keep looking at them all everyday. Saw a bloke yesterday wearing a jacket that I would have liked lol, it was patchwork with large patches maybe 5 inches, every other square the underneath was a dark fabric and over the top was tshirt fabric that had three cuts in it so you could see the underneath through the slits, the slits had rolled up, looked very effective. I was suggesting to my mate that we mug him and nick the jacket lol.

I have so many things to do, and not enough time to do it!. Jacket sounds fab.
I am going to be finding it difficult as to whether to use the inspired ideas for selling my stuff as Mooloo or for doing the things for the Vintage Glam lot!. mmmm
I may need to be a bit canny here.
Certainly need to get my stuff labelled, photographed and up on the web as soon as I can. See if what I start to recycle is going to sell anyway. There are so many things opened up to us by having the internet these days, but I could spend so long looking at the stuff that I don't get it done! mmmmm priorities
I want to take the overlocker to see if it can be fixed.

Have you seen this blog Mooloo http://refashionista.net/ ? I'm addicted to it, although I think some of the re-fashions are better than others. I'm planning to try a couple of projects on things I already have.

She is mentioned in this months edition of Cloth. (edit. no its not the same one as the mag.) There are some great bloggers out there who fuel my inspiration and as I am rather long in the tooth to wear the garments doing them for the younger set is at least fun.
this Thursday I worked on half a dozen pairs of shorts, appliqu!s of flowers on to cropped thirsts, removed sleeves from a tunic and turned it into a shift dress, did two tshirt weaves and started on a cut work, reverse appliqu! on a sweatshirt.
That lot took me 6 hours.
But it meant that I have invoiced out £135 of work this week. Which isn't bad for my second week of trading.
