from some reason my machine has started dropping stitches when turned to zigzag, does anyone no why?

Looks really good. Does it take long? I haven't started mine yet.

    Lovely cover winieppooh.

As for your stitching: try cleaning out in the bobbin area and underneath the needle plate and feed dogs, it's amazing how much fluff accumulates there.
Also change your needle, you should change it after every 8 hours of sewing (I know, I was shocked to hear this too!!).
Unthread and re-thread both your top thread and bobbin too, remembering to thread the reel thread with the presser foot up.

If after all this, your zig-zag is still missing stitches, then it could well be the timings of the machine have gone out of synch, and you will need to get them re-set by a sewing machine service engineer.

Good luck, and hope you can get things sorted soon :)

My sister bought the JL machine and it is not fantastic, if it were me I would look for a good second hand machine. The sewing forum is a great place to get some good advice from for buying a second hand machine.

    Hi all,

Im a complete novice with regards to sewing and making things. I would like to make a nappy holder like this http://and-so-i-sew.blogspot.co.uk/2010/04/nappy-wallet-tutorial.html However I would like to add a bit more padding to it, not to much that its bulky and not too stiff either. Can anyone please recommend what I should use. Ive read up on wadding/batting/interfacing and there are so many different types of each my head is spinning.

Can anyone please recommend what would be best to use?

    Thanks

I tend to buy the cheap fleece blankets that they sell in Ikea, Asda, etc... then I add one or more layers depending on how padded I want my item to be.

The fleeces from Ikea are blue and £1.50 and I got a couple of similar sized ones from Asda for £2.00.

    Thanks geekgirl!

Sounds like a good idea! And I was just at Ikea yesterday, doh! Will go to Asda's tomorrow to have a look, Ikea is about an hour away.
