  • Thanks for all the inspiration and sharing pics - I have finally made a quilt I bought material for about 5 years ago! I can't post a pic unfortunately as it is for a friend who uses MSE and I prefer to stay anon here :(

I have also put together loads of cushion covers and a couple of bags from fabric samples - agree it is scary but I started with my least favourite swatches and they turned out so well I was quite happy to plough right on and use the favourites

I haven't got a quilting foot but have managed ok for the quilt with a standard one

  • Today I am going to quilt all day!! Well, have to walk dog first and then am all set up and ready to go. If I just get all the cutting done it will be a major achievement. I have 12 blocks to complete before next class and have only cut 5 of them. Will report back later :)

Hi Betsie, I think I might do that as well, torn between doing my dress pattern and the quilt but cant really get on with the pattern until I have somone to help me fit it at the back so might have a go at the free motion quilting and hope I dont mess it up
  • You lucky pair im at work all day. Ive got loads of cooking and housework to do after so no sewing for me today.
I'm trying so hard to be thrifty, but it doesn't come naturally. You lot are an inspiration!

I've not tried free motion quilting, have watched it on you tube and it frightens the hell out of me! Let me know how it goes.
    Right off for dog walk....

I'm no good at it Betsie but going to have another go at it. Watched the videos too, they make it look so easy. I am just going to watch them again before I go up stairs to remind me how to do it lol

i made up a 12x12 inch sandwich of scrap fabric with wadding in the middle and practised on that before i did Hannah's quilt before christmas, you have to go quickish but not to quick, and don't go slow as i did when i first started as that was worse.

its just a case of find a consistent speed and it will be fine I've done a few now and it doesn't bother me at all, intact i am starting to quilt my pinwheel quilt today.

thanks. perhaps you have to be on facebook to see things. I will get them on to my Mooloo home page when I can and then. anyone can see them.
