Glad you percevered and got the invisible thread mastered. Rather you than me though.
Some more fabric that i ordered about 10 days ago has arrived. Its patchwork stuff from the Free Trade range I came across on the web. Wintery berry colours. Aim to copy thier quilting pattern I downloaded. (If I can find it on my computer again!). I have so many patterns I have bought, stored on here. I really need to find something to back them up on. I also have so many ebooks too.
Really need a back up system thats not on the laptop.! eek.
Or all that information, and the like will be lost if something happens, and i will never find all the links again!.
Time to get on. Want to sew later today and the day is running away with me.When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Ooh Pennib the embroidery looks so sweet. Love it!
Mooloo the sundress and hat is adorable. If that was for sale in a handmade chic type shop it would be a small fortune!
I've just started a play quilt for our GS. Pin wheel design.
I love the site it's on. Has really interesting tutorials and I like the style of the demonstrator.
Haven't done anything complicated like this before but thought I might as well try. Pic will be up when finished.

I've used invisible thread and its been fine, I've used it in both top and bottom and at the same time.
i trick i use it for is on quilt binding as i don't like hand sewing my binding on the reverse of a quilt, so use invisible.0 -

Thanks Dizzielizzie. I could do with finding that illusive place to sell things!! I am not very good at doing an online shop! Must try harder.
I am thinking that as soon as I get back from holidays I will have to try and make some heavier weight fabric dresses/pinafores etc ready for the winter. Will have to experiment. Still have a coat to cut out etc as well, although I am not sure now, that the fabric is a little bit too sombre or old for a child. I will think about it before I start to make it.
Time to get tea. Was going to do that a few minutes ago then thought I would sneak a peak here!.When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Mooloo, if the coat fabric is a little sombre for a child, could you applique a flower or something else on it to brighten it up?0

And/or put some nice bright buttons on it. I used to make my children's coats and with all the mud round here, pale colours would have been a definite no no. I used to brighten up darker colours with shiny metal or brightly coloured plastic buttons.0 -
Never thought of that! What a good idea, a few applique flowers and some show stopper buttons. Yep that will probably do it. I am also thinking that I should get a funky lining to go with it. Will see what there is on the market when I go to town today. Or I may have to think outside the box and raid my wardrobe?? We will see.
Thanks guys! (Gals). When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Hi,
Still mainly knitting, but just popping in with a query.
Please can anyone tell me what a type of fastener is called?
They are two metal strips which you squeeze the ends together to make them open out. Often used on coin purses or glasses cases.
Would be grateful if anyone can tell me the proper name and / or recommend where to buy them please.Jack of all trades ... Master of none

Hi Cuddles123
I think you mean a 'flex frame' (some people call it a squeeze frame) - not sure where the best place to buy would be although there seem to be some for sale on etsy.
