I would love to have a Janome with the larger aperture arm. I made this cushion with free style embroidery on my current machine and since then I can't get it to do any free style:o

    Here it is....

As it's white on white the photo hasn't picked it up very well. The red is backstitch hand embroidery. More you know where;)

Can you not take the measurements of the base, and add around 6 to 8 inches around the edges for tucking in sheets?
Or take the measurements off of a ready made one?
For quilts you only need about 3/4 the length of the base, but to have enough to tuck around the child would be better?
    Sorry no exact measurements.

I am in Oxford at the moment, and have bought one of my sewing machines here with me.
I have made the little dress that was in the Sewing for Kids magazine. I was not impressed with the mistakes and wrote to the editior.
I asked where the material came from, and they said it was made specially for them. But they have sent me another free pack. So I hve cut out the matching Hat, and skirt yesterday.
Maybe will get to sew it later today. If DGD gives me some peace.
When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.

Here is the little stripey pinafore dress that i made this morning. It was a smaller size in the magazine so I had to scale it up. My elastic was a scrap bit I had left, so its a little tight, but it will do.
    DGD loves it anyway.

I have cut out another one in the same fabric for DGD2, along with the original fabric one that came with the magazine. I also got a hat and a skirt cut out of the second pack of fabric that I was able to get when I wrote to complain about a mistake in the pattern and a few other things!.
Had to stop sewing as the rain was threatening and we were sewing out in the garden. (DGD was passing me the pins!).

This is the first dress from the mag I made, in the fabric provided, and the matching hat. I have a skirt also cut out, but need that elastic.
I have been working on the black and white patchwork as well.

Mooloo, the dresses are lovely! Your DGD looks so cute and seems very happy with her dress :T

Recently just been making sock monkeys for presents and for a charity auction, I don't want to use buttons for eyes as I'm not sure what age child the monkey might end up with.

Does anyone have any suggestions how to do safe eyes on toys please?
