rufusd!!!2 wrote: »Morning all. I might have a chance of doing a craft fair in the not too distant future. The town the fair will be at is a tourist attraction town so it gets busy of a weekend so hopefully will get a few people coming. Thing is I have not done a craft fair before. I want to take the bits I have on my shop like bags, cushions and quilts but not sure if I should make up some smaller things too, and do I sell at the same price as on my shop? The stall is £25 so I want to make enough to cover the price of the stall at least. Any opinions or advice would be appreciated a lot xx
I would suggest that you make a few different small things that the kids could buy. If you have something on the front of your stall, then the kids are interested, which gives the mums time to look at what you have for them.
I used to do small stuffed mice, and things like key rings etc for kids.
My bunting is up in the street today, and it stretches a long, long way up the street. Now I just need the camera to take a picture. although it is absolutely hammering down with rain at the moment and I am worried as they gave me paperbacked sticky tape to sew the flags on to. Will it hold out till the street party on Tuesday? did we put it out too soon, or were we right to hang it today, and let the whole street know we are having a party. (for those who didnt respond to the leaflet drops.).
right I am off to bed. I have some extra bunting made to put up round my house, but I have been too busy sorting out the housework getting ready for the delivery on my bedroom furniture. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Thanks for that Mooloo, I have ordered some rings for making key rings, having a think what else I have the fabrics for, thinking some kids bags out of the scraps or something, may be a dolly's quilt.
Hope the bunting stays intact, what a worry with all this rain we have at the moment. Its such a shame this weekend looks like it will be a wash out after all the preparations people have put in. I hope you have enough dry weather to have a lovely street party xx0 -
Perhaps you could do some bag charms out of buttons and ribbons from your stash?
Some of the bunting is down as I expected. But we will just have to see what the weather brings over the next few days. At least its not my job to put it back up. Just to make it. I have some spare if they need to replace it along the line.
I woke with the heavy rain around 5am, and noticed an ambulance in the road a few doors down. I hope that its not one of the elderly neighbours taken a turn for the worse or anything too serious. Mind you an Ambulance means its got to be serious to some degree.
I am going to see if I can make DGD a skirt out of the Red/white/Blue bits that i have left, but it won't be today as I am so sore from all the work I did yesterday with the delivery of my new bedroom furniture.
I am hoping that with the new stuff, i will be able to have my sewing area sorted out sooner rather then later. Joints/muscles willing of course. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
What a shame about your bunting Mooloo. Hope the rain eases up and it's fixable.
Rufus; how exciting and nerve racking at the same time having a stall. Hope you sell lots and have a lovely time there. I would echo what Mooloo has said about having some little things on your stall as well to attract kiddies.
Nuttywoman, you've been busy making those jubilee clothes. They will certainly fit in with the bunting/decorations on the day.0 -
I recently celebrated my "ahem" 40th birthday. With my birthday money I bought a sewing machine. I did GSCE Textiles 25 yrs ago, and this was the last time I picked up a sewing machine.
I couldn't wait to get started.

Great bags, there will be no stopping you now and you will have plenty of time left to start on making your gifts for christmas and birthdays this year.
I am not sure what I shall be making next. I still have a few loose end jobs to tie up, but not thrilled as 2 of them are alterations of a top, for the now EX BF, and some cushion covers out of some of her clothes for his daughter. I know I could just not do it, but I think that it would be more dignified to do them and post them on to them.
The head of the nursery wants me to make some cushioncovers for her, and alter a skirt she has thats far too long, so that will be next week when the kids return to school. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
I dont think I could do that Mooloo for an ex unless I accidentally sewed up the sleeves of the top lol.
I started making some dolls bedding sets this morning. Doing a quilt and pillow to match. Have got 4 of them on the go, just about finished one pillow and one quilt, they just need the openings sewn up where I turned them through. The other ones need the lace put in around the edges and then front and back sewn together. Might get them done later on although I want to watch the tennis so might have to wait until tomorrow.0 -

Shipr!!!95 - your bags are lovely. It's amazing how making a couple of plain cream bags can be turned into something special by putting a few 'WORDS' on them.0 -
