Oh Tamster - that's lovely. So much thought and effort has gone in to it. Your Mum will be delighted I'm sure.

Not been sewing, not been reading. Too tied up with life!
Spent today having to put fabrics up in the loft, and to try and make some space. My son is coming home, and so I will not have a work room anymore. Just as I was planning it all etc etc.
Life has been a bit tough lately. But I shall look forward to better days and being able to sew soon.

Tamster the quilt is wonderful. I am in awe.

Lovely work Tamster, I love the way you have personalised it in the centre, your Mum will love it. Does she know you are doing it or is it a suprise?

A couple of my makes for the week.
    2 little birdies.
These birdies are quite quick to make and are good for hanging on wardrobe door or anywhere really!
They could also have some lavender or similair so they could be used in the wardrobe. These are for my d.i.l. hope she likes them.
I tweaked them a bit so they have a mouthful of hearts.:D

Hely lovelies, gosh this thread has moved on since I've last visited. been so busy not had much time for sewing but I was back to it this weekend.

Made a stupid error tho, wanted to make matching PJ's and dressing gown and guessed how much fabric to order from ebay, didn't order enough so ordered more from same seller a few weeks later, and yep the fabric batch is different...completely diff shade of navy blue! I could kick myself

Jamgirl, glad your DD is pleased with her new machine

Pennib, as ever your makes are lovely, the birdies ate beautiful.

Tamster, wow! The quilt is absolutely gorgeous and def an heirloom. Didn't realise you could send things away to be quilted.

PoppyToms, I'm now following your blog :)

    Thanks everyone - blush
    you are too kind

It is a complete surprise (I hope) My Mum looks after my Boys at my house whenever I work, so I hope that I have managed to keep all the evidence well hidden!

The quilter did an amazing job, once I have sewn on the binding I will show you her fantastic work.

Don't be scared of having a go yourselves. I found the pattern/quilt-along really easy to follow.

The secret to patchwork is to just make sure that you have a consistant seam allowance and press as you go!

Avstar they are called "Long Arm Quilters".

All the ones near me were £££££££££ I saw a lady in Yorkshire, mentioned a few times on various blogs. Her prices started at £14 square yard. Still a small fortune but a more reasonable price and you are paying for a specialist service/trade. (details on homepage)

And just how many perfume sets/flowers/gardening gifts/jewelry does a women need? lol
  • Hi all, hope you don't mind me popping in. A friend and I have started making a few simple things and tonight my lovely BF bought me a singer machine for my birthday :)

Any ideas on how to attaching braiding or similar to a cushion cover? (anchor design with braiding as rope) And also ribbon... would it need to be sewn on or fabric glue of some description? Or any other ways?

    Thanks :)

    like the birds Pennib.
Still no sewing here. Keep saying maybe tomorrow, but then something comes up and its not possible.
DS is coming home today. So will be tied up trying to remove the rest of the ironing etc out of the way, and turning an area in the bedroom for a sewing space. When I do get going, that Loft Ladder is going to be well used!.
