I've made a skirt for my friend's birthday and I have a small amount of the fabric left. Can anybody suggest some accessories I could make for her?

A scarf, a scrunchy, fabric bracelet, head scarf, small tote-bag, small clutch, anklet and bow, fabric flower brooch.

Hi all, I have a book with sewing patterns in - they are 15% of the correct size can anyone tell me how to scale them up when I print I'm really confused :( Thanks - I've managed to scan them which is a good start

Hi I think I have this figured out, if you increase it by 666% you should get it up to 99.9% of your correct size.

    1 divded by .15 is 6.66, to check this 15 x 666% = 99.99, or
0.15 x 666%=0.999, which is just short of 100% of 1, if you see what I mean?

    Hope this helps.:)

Hi everyone, havent been able to get on MSE since Saturday for some strange reason, the site wouldnt open at all but I am back now. I have been making myself some clothes with my extra large stash of fabric. The pile doesnt seem to be going down at all lol. I havent taken any photos yet but will do when I have finished the jacket I am doing at the moment. So far I have made two jackets, this is the third one I am on, and three pairs of trousers.

I wonder if anyone can help. I bought poly cotton, it supposed to be mediumweight but I very much doubt it gets much more leightweight than this. I am having so much trouble working with it, the feed dog isn't really moving it back unless I push the material back but as it is slightly stretchy the stitching is all over the place. I need to hem the edges which is impossible as I cant guide the fabric through both sides and I need to sew a line a few mms from the seam, again I can't do so as it's too close to the edge.

Could anyone advise where I am going wrong or any advice on how I can deal with this? I'm trying to make a cushion cover which is very easy in terms of capability but the fabric is not agreeing with the machine at all (or I am missing a trick lol).

I would really appreciate any advice, I have a Janome J3-24 if it helps?

with my lovely old machine, I nearly always have to sew onto a small scrap at the beginning and end of my sewing. Otherwise the machine "eats" the corner/beginning of my my sewing. I use tiny scraps folded over. It is also a good way of saving thread as you leave the scrap in the machine. The scrap you ended with is what you use to start your next bit of sewing (iyswim)

otherwise try a new needle - 99% of machine problems are done to not changing needles often enough. (fyi - every project needs a new needle)

My local Aldi have a Singer 44554 Symphonie sewing machine in store just now.
It's £84.99 (it has £5 off) maybe it would be worth checking out your local Aldi?
Could any experienced seamstresses give me their opinion on this particular model and also if they think that this is a good price?
My younger daughter is interested in sewing.

    IMG_3989.JPGMy latest finish - a quilt for my Mum's 60th birthday.:j

For the middle panel I have appliqued figures on a an old linen traycloth. The figures are of my Mum's Grandsons and her dog (which she has not long had to put to sleep:() I am sending it away to be quilted as it is about 6 foot!!!!!! It is going to cost a small fortune but i bought the fabric on sale and it will be an heirloom to cherish. I would rather spend the money on something that would be loved & used than on yet more stuff for the garden/house etc.
