Kiess; Well done on your first sale. Bet you floated home! I don't know if I'd like a £7000 machine (well I wouldn't refuse one if you gave it me:p) I like to be with my craft while I'm working it not in another room while it does it's thing, if ya know what I mean. :D
Yup I know exactly what you mean. Think I rather like the look of a £1700 machine, so I will be saving up for it for the next few years. By the time I have the money though, there will no doubt be another machine that I fancy!! :o

Fighting a lurgy atm, so not getting much done. Need to get a quilted cushion cover finished today, as well as sort out my knitting tutorials for the workshop I'm doing in Orkney. Like wading through treacle trying to do anything today unfortunately :(.

Have a great Sunday everyone xxx.

Justamum; My dd got a dress for her wedding from China. It was the most lovely periwinkle blue (her favourite colour) and I did have to sew ends in etc. But for the price, well it couldn't be beat. She loved it.

Kiess; oh while your here. Maybe I could pick your scrambled brain!:p The machines that do embroidery how do you get them to accept your own pattern? Do you link it up to your computer and scan or one of those stick things you plug in? Asking as I would love to have one....eventually, but would also like to do my own designs.
Hope you feel less 'clogged' up soon. I know the treacle feeling only too well.:o Sewing is much nicer :D

I've always loved monogrammes and here is one that I've been practising with. A couple more photos on h*page.

Lovely monogram pennib...such gorgeous work, well done.

As for getting the machine to use your own pattern, my (new) boss likens the big fancy machines to computers that sew, as opposed to computerised sewing machines. And yes, you can link the machine to a computer to transfer patterns or upgrade software...amazing stuff!!

Not feeling very much better, so been emailing college...supposed to be invigilating tomorrow (today?) @ 10am, and if I have another broken night, I may not be up early enough to let them know I can't make it. Doubt if I'd be safe on the road at the moment in my state! :(

Heading off to bed now, well the chair probably..can't see me managing to lie down and not spend the night coughing, keeping everyone awake. Taking to my chair means that only I have a broken night.

I did get my cushion finished today, eventually...will post a piccie later. The parcel needs posting before I head off to Scotland on Wednesday...hope I feel better by then.:o

Kiess; I was wondering if the Janome Memory 6500p lets you do your own patterns/designs? Do you have that in your shop?
Hope your fit and well for your loooonnng trip on wednesday.

Wow Pennib, that monogram is fab! How long does something like that take to do, i'm guessing it's a bit like cross stitch? It looks really effective, might have to google a how to do guide.

Now we (listen to me!) do sell mainly Janome and Berninas, as well as a few others but I am still finding out exactly what we do sell :o

I'll let you know when I'm back there...after my trip north that is!!

...just had a quick look at the 6500p instruction booklet, it doesn't look like you can add your own designs, just a case of playing with the installed stitch patterns I think....I will ask my boss when I see him again..though that won't be until May 5th..sorry :o.

Today I finished off sewing up some squares for some of my quilting group's chartiy quilt projects. I will drop them offf tomorrow after my dentist check-up.

Starting to feel a bit better, though still coughing "well". Heading off to bed...who knows, I may not need to use the chair tonight!

Poppytoms; It was quicker to do than cross stitch as there is no mental counting and constant changing of threads. Although it still took a while trying to keep it neat.

Kiess; Thanks for that info. I suppose it will be the more expensive ones that do that sort of thing.
Hope you have a smooth trip and don't forget to bring your thermals!!

I always bring the woolly jumpers and thermals when I come north, even in the summer!! :rotfl:

Hope I can get over the Firth on Saturday...the midday Gills boat didn't sail today!!

Getting quite excited about heading "home" now

That's a nice cushion and a good way to use up little bits.
I hope that we can lay some sun on for you Kiess!
