Thanks for the link on interfacing will find this very useful. I have a question to those bag makers out there. Where is the best place online to get round 15cm bamboo bag handles? I cant seem to find any for less then £5 or is that around the going price?
they are that much in john lewis, which is the only place that sells them around here. i've got 2 sets waiting to be used that i've scavanged from cheep charity shop bags (very ugly and reduced so i felt no shame in cutting them up.) - so perhaps you could have a look in your local charity shops? perhaps even tell them what you are after, and they can save it for you (esp if the bag is so ugly / worn that they'd just throw it in the rag bin anyway!)Relax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. karmacookie wrote: »also, the duck cloth fabric from Cath Kidston doesn't seem to need interfacing, its a nice thikness for bags on its own. I've tried searching on-line for other suppliers but can't find any. Is it only CK that does duck cloth? It is so expensive
about that 'Duck Cloth', i've never heard of it other than with CK. is it like Oil Cloth fabric, which is water proof on one side and just the cotton on the reverse. it's a heavy weight fabric that doesnt need lining - think old fashioned table cloths. you can also get a light weight version that i've seen in cafes. this is the sort of stuff i mean, and i've never used this seller, but it's a good price: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Pvc-TableCloth-Oilcloth-Fabric-Spot-Polka-Dot-DuckEgg1m_W0QQitemZ120489243215QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Table_Linen?hash=item1c0db7f24f
oh, and CK has reduced it from 18p/m to 12p/m... still v pricy though! http://www.cathkidston.co.uk/p-11677-floral-gingham-cotton-duck.aspxRelax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Danables, have you tried ebay? Not sure exactly what you looking for but there are some on there that are a bit cheaper or you could maybe buy a new bag and chop handles off. Not sure if these would be any good or you wanted flat ones.

oo please can i join too
i am in desperate need for a new sewing machine so going to be looking in the jan sales. i got my first one ( a jerome) about 10yrs ago but i've lost the screw which holds the needle in. i'm a complete novice mind you and can only do basic things like pillows, cushions etc but i like to have a go. i have attempted curtains and made a teddy in school.
my plan is to make a patch work quilt this year and would love to make teddys for my 3 nieces and nephew (1,2,5 and 7) with their initials sewn in gold thread on the paws for christmas.
You wrote this a long time ago, but I wrote to Janome for a screw for my sewing machine as it had broken on the thread/ at the top. They sent me one in the post for free. Saved me buying a new machine!
Ofcourse I may read on and find you have already got a new machine or thread. Its hard work reading 40 odd pages to catch up.When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -

Hi
No, it's not waterproof, It's just sort of thicker cotton. It must be specially made for CK hence the price  . The fabric in the link is really pretty but still much too expensive for a newbie like me to cut up!0
