but used some for the first time over the weekend - it was 'medium' weight (apparently) but it doesn't seem to have done much to my bag. I haven't finished it yet so maybe when it's done it will miraculously be super strong but I'm not convinced. I also found it didn't stick very well - I ironed it under a damp towel but it's still loose in some places so maybe I did it wrong
I'll read responses to your queries with interest.
Don't use a damp cloth or steam to iron on interfacing, it should be done with a hot dry iron. For bags you really want to use a heavy weight. Medium or lightweight just aren't stiff enough. I don't use interfacing on my bags, I use wadding - and press it so it goes stiff and then use that. I usually use a temporary spray adhesive to hold it to the fabric whilst I sew. It gives a nice bit of body without making the bag too stiff which pellon (like pelmet stiffening) would do.0 -

I think this has gone out of fashion and come back round again! It's taken me since Setember and considering it's only made up of 5 pieces that's pretty bad! I'm pleased with it thoughWeightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -

Having read the various websites I am now even more confused and scared of interfacing... I guess it's just a game of trial and error, but not very MSE as I'm buying loads of different ones to try! (Sorry Martin :money:) I'll try medium weight as Kandipandi says (thanks!) and will see if that's any better... Thanks also for the zippy info.
Me too Beachhut. Very confused. Ive now ordered medium, heavy and have lightweight already which was useless (although bought it per instructions from for the skirt Im making in my dress making classes). Shall report back once I have them all and have tried them out!! Only using the iron on ones as the sew in ones seem to scary for someone of my limited capabilities!!:smileyhea0 -

in-the-beach-hut I've just tried to post a comment on your blog and when it brings up the word verification thingy there isn't a box to type it in so I couldn't do it. Don't know if you want to check your settings out? (confused)0

Thanks for the advice! What kind of wadding do you use? Why does it go stiff when you press it? Would you be able to post a link? sorry for what must seem like stupid questions but this interfacing thing really has got me stumped0 -

Your skirt is lovely and a beautiful colour. I have a dress still in pieces that I bought the material for just before last years Mothers Day. I keep getting sidetracked into making different things. Perhaps I will get it made for this years Mothers day.:)0 -

I am wondering the same thing. Do you mean the type of wadding that is sometimes used for quilting? If so what temperature do you iron it on and do you use steam?0
