welcome to all the newbies
i'm back from a few days away from the sewing, the patchwork cushions went down a storm as christmas presents (think i forgot to take a photo of them for the file though, doh) now I really do need to get cracking on my dress for the wedding in a fortnight so cracking on with pattern making & a muslin today now the house is back in some semblance of order, i've also got to rectify the flowergirls dress before the wedding too size 12 rather than age 12 :S argh
rufusdog (& others who sell bits) I may be wanting to pic your brains about how to get started but that will be later on in the year. for now sarahangel I may need to pick your brains regarding the dress mentioned above- Mortgage: 1st one down, 2nd also busted

Hi everyone I pop along to this thread every now and again but I don't so a great deal. I've started a quilt with pink and green it's going quite well I think, I'm along way from finishing it but I like to plan out what I'll make next.
So first of does anyone have any quilting tips that I might need to know?
Secondly I want to have a got at making underwear as anyone done it? If so was it difficult and where do I start?
Thanks in advance x
With the quilting I find it best to tack the layers together before you start quilting. I was told when I first learned to tack both ways across the quilt and try not to leave more than 7 inches between the lines of tacking. Some people use large pins but I prefer tacking.0 -

Thank you for the advice the other night for my parents anniversary makes.
I made an apron for my Dad and a lined tote bag for my Mum and they loved them.
I have taken a photo of them and created a Flickr account but not sure how to post them on here. hi all. I'm a newbie in more ways than one. recognise some of the names. I just got my first proper sewing machine...not sure what to make of that.
well the good news is . I've managed to thread it... that's an achievement for me trust me.
and I've had a go at making some lines . not quite straight yet ...
so I hope you don't mind me popping in... and hopefully I'll learn something after I goto library tomorrow and get a book. I know all the info would be on you tube and on line but I'm a computer addict and prefer to use a book otherwise I get distracted !!!Challenge 2018 - Learn by heart the Book by Wayne Morgan on Amazon - Betfair Football Trading as it helps to supplement my small income :beer:0 -
