Hi, I wondered if anyone knew where I can buy patterned felt? I've seen some on ebay but it's very expensive, and not really what I'm looking for.

Ideally I'd like polka dot or stripes - I got a lovely book for Christmas and patterned felt seems to be used for a few things.

    Thank you for your help.

I have seen some spotty felt in Hobbycraft but can't remember how much is was.
  • Good Evening everyone....can I join the thread? I am new to sewing....got a machine a few months ago and been making little things/practising using the machine etc and made a couple of cushions, 1 for my sister and 1 for me which we both love. I have just started to make a cover for my brother for his ipad which he recently purchased as a christmas present for himself (I wish I can splash out that much on myself!!) It is his birthday in February and in true old style/money saving fashion, i have decided to make his present from some recently aquired fabric.
I have no idea if he will use it, though I would like to think he would. I have found a pattern/blog online with a good tutorial which I am following. I am just currently quilting the outside of the fabric (first attempt at quilting too) to give it an 'edge'. Really enjoying being back on the machine after a 6 week break.
My new year motto is to enjoy my hobbies and make time for my hobbies. I am also going to make as many presents as I can for birthdays this year. Of course, I will not be able to do everyone, but I would like to aim for at least 25% of my family! - trying not to raise the bar too high!
So far I have my brother - ipad case, and my neice - a Kindle case (taking on the same pattern as the ipad).
Whooo! I hope to make my other two neice's something and my mum and mother in law something too but their birthdays are later on in the year!

Right, just making a brew and now back to the sewing machine :-) xx
Proud mummy to an amazing 8 year old!
  • Thank you Pennib. I'll have a look (hopefully) tomorrow. I can't wait to get started!

Mrs Bunny I look forward to reading about what you make. I just got my first sewing machine for Christmas - I've never even used one before although I enjoy hand sewing. So far even setting it up is proving hard!!
  • I have been given a sewing machine! i cant believe my luck, mind you i dont know if it works yet lol. Its a singer 2623? Its the 150th anniversary edition so obviously 10 years old now, but it looks brand new!

Now any ideas where to start?
  • Thanks chris25, i had a wee nosey at it last night and it looks like its practically unused! Everything, apart from the normal foot, is in the original wrapping!

Ive read the instruction manual and just dont have the confidence to give it a go. Total wimp! :(

Pennib you are a star. they had pink, and red polka dot felt in Hobbycraft for 75p a sheet in case anyone else wants some. There were lots of other patterned ones too including zebra and giraffe print. Now what can I use those for?!
