There are some fabulously inspiring projects on here, thank you for posting!
I normally work Mon-Fri but I've been poorly for nearly a week now. Slowly getting better, some sewing would cheer me up no end if I can muster the energy! I have had a dress cut up ready to sew since November! xI have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off

this is really odd - we all seem to have different problems with posting pictures!

I take my dog to a class every week and they are having a fun day on the 26th. I said I’d make some stuff but I'm lacking inspiration.
Has anyone got any ideas of stuff I can make up quick?
Thanks!
Lesley
How about a little poop bagcarrier (smaller than mine below!)? Not very glamorous but a novel way of carrying bags when dog-walking and very easy to make:
This is one I made to keep all our plastic bags (evil!) in one place (please ignore the little toddler's finger prints all over the glass door....). There are a couple of tutorials here and here. Could make a smaller one for taking out dog walking?
Or anything with funky dog material like this?from Terry's Fabrics.
Maybe door stops? Or passport protectors like this?
It took less than an hour to make (much less once I mastered the tutorial - have already made three in different fabrics).
Good luck and hope the day goes well.0 -
Hi,
I have absolutely no sewing skills at all but need some advise for my first attempt.I have a long skirt I love the fabric of,but I dont like wearing skirts,I do like wearing wide leg trousers. So,I thought it should be really easy to turn the skirt into culottes with little trouble or skill.
Do I need a pattern or is it just a case of snipping and sewing up to create 2 legs.I want to keep the culottes wide so they still look like a skirt( but I will feel more comfortable in it as trousers, and its far easier and more flattering to roll up the legs of trousers if you find yourself at the beach and wanting a paddle than it is to have to tuck the hem of a long skirt into your pants to keep it out of the water ).Do I need to do any cutting or shaping for the crotch area?
Help please."Reaching out to touch the stars dont forget the flowers at your feet".0 -
in-the-beach-hut, thank you for the passport tute, was thinking of making one for me and other half when we go on our honeymoon later this year - going to put 'bride' on mine and 'groom' on his, you never know we might get an upgrade lol
I have a question though - was the sizing okay? Just wondered if it was a US blogger whether their passports are a different size, and it's easier to ask you than to dig mine out and measure it! xI have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off

Good thought! You're far more organised than me - I just started making them without thinking of thatLuckily though it fitted fine so the measurements are okay. Just to double-check, slot your passport into the cover before you sew the flaps in place - then you can move your pins about and make sure the fit is just right.
Some fab material I ordered from Fabric Inspirations the other day has been delivered this morning - it's perfect for passport protectors.
It's £1.45 for 1/4m which is expensive but cheap for two themed passport protectors! I love the idea of a bride and groom matching pair0 -

Thanks beach, I love Fabric Inspirations, they are one of my fav sites, have made some bags and make up purses from their fabric!
PepPop thanks - I saw them in a mag, leather versions and they were a silly amount of money each! This way I get to inject more of our personalities into it through my fabric choices too! xI have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off

In-the-beach-hut - that carrier bag holder is lovely, I think I might steal that idea to make a toilet roll holder for my spare rolls (as I buy them by the million - very MSE), I can hang it up in my bathrom..... more things to add to the list ... thanksYou can stand there and agonize........

I love it, but it was such a faff!!! I wouldn't attempt one this small again, I think it might be nice larger and would make a lovely bag for a bridesmaid in appropriate material with a drawstring top perhaps, sorry thinking out loud here...
Anyhoo, I think its a bit small to be much use to me, I was hoping for a makeup bag, but its not big enough really, so I plan to use it to keep my small bag bits in, memory sticks, painkillers, hair bands and bits like that.
The photos show how small it is, its in my hand:

Thats fab! I agree with you though. It was much smaller than I thought it would be (sorry, I should have given you the sizes before you started making it). I think the picture on the tutorial makes it look bigger than it is.:smileyhea0
