Managed it at last! I have enjoyed looking at all your photos so much I thought I had better add some myself. The only photos I have at the moment are the two dresses I made for my daughter. They look a lot better with her head attached but I am not sure she would want to be posted on a public forum.

The red dress has gold bows on but they don't show up very well in this picture. They are both from the same pattern but the bodice on the red one is ruched in panels. When I said I would make her a new dress for the show she was performng in, I had completely forgotten that I had promised to do the ruching on the next dress. Next time I will keep my mouth shut about what I will do next time because it took me hours!:)

I am just hoping she doesn't grow out of them too soon.

I think it's very homemade looking but we'll say that adds to its charm :D

  • He's really cute. :) I love the green button eyes.

I had a lot of trouble getting pictures on too. I came to the conclusion in the end it might be because I was using Firefox so I changed to Internet Explorer and managed to copy and paste them in.
  • Ahhhh, I was using Firefox, maybe that's it? Glad you liked him :)

    He's lovely!

I use Explorer but can't seem to get photos to show - copy/paste or add photo ect. I also use flickr, so i'll tell you how i get pics in - i copy them from the 'thumbnails' on the 'my photostream' page - that's why my pics are quite small on here, but it's the only way i can currenlty do it!

rosalie-lavender - your dresses are beautiful! I am so scared to attempt clothes yet, they are brilliant - I bet your daughter was thrilled with them.

Tete en l'Air - Your cat is soo cute, that pattern is really simple but effective, it would also adapt quite easily into an owl with huge eyes and a couple of felt wings.

Sunshine12 - I really loved your bag and attempted to make on last night - I am half way there, it was quite time consuming cutting and sewing all the little panels, and there was loads of threads to finish off and trim - you should see the state of my lounge carpet, I just left it like that and went to bed and its still like that now!

  • Decision made. I am going to buy a Janome 525. My local shop apparently has a poor reputation for after sales (no one at the classes my mum goes to will buy from them) so I need to buy elsewhere. Can anyone recommend a website?

I have also decided to take the dressmaking level 1 & 2 course in September :)

Mum showed me her sewing table/cabinet...
  • 23rd Spiral - I tried copying from the thumbnail and the main picture but it wasn't having it. Never mind.

Kandi, yeah I've been wondering how I can adapt it, and I've definitely got the bug now I've done that one, itching to get back on my machine!

I am glad this thread has been started. I have lots of ideas of things to make once I get my sewing machine back, it is in the menders till Friday and I am dying to make some more things.

I make quilts and have now seen some ideas for making other things using patchwork, loved the Pink Penguin blog, but want to try to make up my own patterns so I can hopefully have a stall later in the year and make some money.

Kandipandi - love the sock monkey, is it easy to sew them on the machine? I made some year before last for everyone but sewed them by hand but might do some on the machine if its better and quicker.

Sunshine12 - I love the bag so much. I have put metal tape measures on my list of things to buy for next time I am up town. I have lots of pairs of jeans upstairs that I have put away instead of throwing out, will have a try for something similar using the denim and some patchworks.

Gemsmember - thanks for the pdf showing how to fit the ruler.

Rosie-lavender - those dresses are beautiful, My daughter wants a prom dress for next year so I think I will have a look round for a nice pattern and make her one, she is very thin and it is quite hard to get anything to fit properly in the shops. Where is the best place to buy patterns from these days?

Cant wait to get my machine back. Keep up the lovely posts xx
