    Hi ladies,

I'm a long time lurker on this thread but not really posted before. Looking to get my first sewing machine and I've requested to join your Facebook group. Could someone please approve the request? I'm Kevin Chambers-Paston.

    Thanks :)

Can anyone help me, I came across some xmas panels what make stockings etc, are these any good, can anyone point me in the direction of a tutorial? I would love a more traditional look for the house but cant justify paying £20 for a stocking each for kids xx

Christmas Stockings are quite easy to make using a sewing machine, I've made several this year for friends children. I don't know the panels you're referring to, I make mine using 2 different Christmas fabrics and gingham for the lining, you can download a stocking template online for free. I can post more details and a picture if it would help? :D

Chocolate - I love the jewellery rolls, well done, the zips are a great idea to keep things safe in them. I also like your shopping bag.

I have a big job coming up. We have been looking for a new sofa for our living room. We have one already which I have recovered twice now, each time to match the decorating in the room. It is looking a bit tatty now so we were going to get a new one out of the bonus OH got for his trip to Asia but we have not been able to find one that suits our room, or is comfortable enough and still be within our budget. We were planning to spend up to £700 if we had to, in the end OH asked me whether I fancied covering the old one again as we know its comfortable and it fits in our room so I said I would love to have another go at it.

The times before when I did it I didnt really know what I was doing, I was just winging it as I went and hoping it looked nice but between then and now I have picked up lots of hints and tips on how to get things to look better so I am hoping I can do a better job this time. We want to get it done before Christmas so we are planning to start buying all the bits the end of this week when OH gets paid.

I also have some net curtains to take up today for FIL, and I have an order for another cushion.

Forgot to take a picture of the bunting for the little boy, before we gave it to him yesterday. Oh well.
Have another order for one for a few weeks time, so will hopefully remember to take a picture of that one, if I actually find the time to make it.
Getting a back log of orders now!.

  • Sewing machine is being delivered today! So excited! Any ideas on what I can make with recycled clothes fabric? :)

Where is a good place to buy threads for sewing? And what is a good brand but affordable? Thanks.

I buy my basic threads on line or at market stalls, but if I am making something that really needs good threads I would always use Guttermans. I have made all my wedding dresses etc with guttermans.
But the basic white/black threads that Ikea sell are not too bad either.
