Mooloo I think the "frogs" out of cord might be what I am looking for lol. I will have a search for buttonholes made out of cord and see if I can find them xx0

I have just finished making an Innotab cover for DS. Thought I would share as it will make a great present or maybe for selling as I haven't seen these on ebay yet. I made it up like a messenger bag although with just the cotton and two layers of fleece and not lined. The front flap has a stiff plastic insert (cut from a folder) to protect the screen.
Anyway here it is...0 -
Vicki that looks great!
Mooloo you are so lucky with your fabric, you must be like a kid in a sweet shop.0 -
Fabulous makes - love the patchwork needle cases Georgiabay. That Innotab cover is brilliant, did you design it yourself?0

Yes and no! I took ideas from various different bags, and had seen the window idea on an ipad case but overall just winged it!0 -

I'm thinking of buying my first sewing machine, which I would like to use to make curtains, cushion covers and maybe when I get the hang of it clothes.
Does anyone have recommendations please? I'm very drawn to the brightly coloured ones like these:

However my Mum thinks that the ones in the £50 price range are often only suitable for very light materials and wouldn't be much use for curtains. What do you guys think?0 -
Vicki - that bag is really nice, I like the little window in it, what a good idea.
My self covering buttons came today and I have now finished my jacket and matching bag. I have put some pics on my blog. I just did the loop for a button hole and it wasnt as neat as I had hoped it would turn out but once its done up you cant see it.
I found some of those frog closures on Ebay already made up and they look perfect to go with the Chinese fabric so I need to have a think as to whether I could use them on one of the other pieces.0 -

I bought a reconditioned Brother from SMD for £89 two years ago. I have used it a lot, I haven't done anything really heavy duty but have made clothes, cushions, bags and blinds etc. I am more than happy with it and it came with a free set of about 60 cottons in various colous, sewing tools and set of decent scissors which you would need to buy anyway.
I would recommend them highly from my personal experience for what I wanted it for it's been just right.0 -
